Girard-Perregaux Vintage 1945 XXL Chronograph Watch - Vibrant Tribute to Art Deco

Nov 28, 2012
Girard-Perregaux unveils its new Vintage 1945 XXL Chronograph watch. The novelty demonstrates sober lines inspired by the aesthetic heritage of the early 20th century accumulated by the brand.

The new Girard-Perregaux watch accommodates a self-winding manufacture caliber - the Girard-Perregaux GP03300 that allows it to happily measure short intervals of time with remarkable precision.

The timepiece makes one feel an ideal balance of straight lines and curves. Its rectangular case is sculptured from pink gold or steel and features alternating polished and satin-brushed finishing.

The case design has been based on the Art Decos notion of geometry. The impressive size of the case (36.95 x 36.00 mm) has been compensated by an ergonomically convex silhouette that provides supreme comfort of wearing. The case-construction, incorporating a sapphire crystal case-back secured by four screws, is 30-meter water-resistant.

The curved dial recalls the refinement of classic watches. It is completed with two chronograph counters facing each other and giving a feeling of supreme symmetry. The blued steel hands of the counters match the seconds hand in the center. The hours and minutes are indicated with help of dauphine style hands and applied Arabic numerals. It has inherited the railroad minute track from the initial Vintage 1945 model.

The sapphire crystal case-back reveals the intricate inner mechanism independently designed, manufactured and assembled in-house by the Girard-Perregaux Manufacture at La Chaux-de-Fonds.

The automatic mechanical 47-jewel movement, beating at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, gives an advantage of 46 hours of power reserve. It animates the following functions: hours, minutes, small seconds, and chronograph. The movement demonstrates hand finishing according to the best traditions of the brand.

The Girard-Perregaux Vintage 1945 XXL Chronograph watch is teamed with a black alligator strap fitted with a pink gold folding buckle.
