Vacheron Constantin Creates a Watch for Action Innocence

May 26, 2009
Action Innocence is a non-profit organization that acts to protect children from Internet sex predators. This year Action Innocence celebrates its 10th anniversary.

To mark the occasion and offer support to the organization, Vacheron Constantin has created an exclusive Patrimony Traditionelle skeleton watch. The timepiece will be auctioned during a gala dinner to be held on June 18th in Geneva. Proceeds from the sale of the watch will be donated to support a variety of programs of Action Innocence.

The case of the new Patrimony Traditionelle skeleton watch is sculptured from white gold and measures 30mmin diameter. The timepiece reveals an "action innocence" engraving.

The intricate worked-by-hand skeleton bridges demonstrate a refined Ottoman motif. The pierced mainspring barrel shows off Vacheron Constantin’s signature Maltese Cross, encircled with the engraved words "Vacheron Constantin Geneve".

The periphery of the dial has a contrasting minute track, with faceted applied hour markers. The hour markers and dauphine hands are also crafted in white gold.

The Vacheron Constantin watch accommodates a slender hand-wound Caliber 1003, highly appreciated as the world's thinnest movement in 1955. The 18-jewel movement provides 31 hours of power reserve. Its balance is beating at 18,000 vibrations per hour.

The caliber is crowned with the Geneva Seal hallmark. The decoration and construction of the movement corresponds to twelve absolute quality criteria defined by the Canton of Geneva in 1886.

The unique Vacheron Constantin Patrimony watch embraces the wrist on a dark plum crocodile strap fitted with a white gold buckle.

Concord C1 QuantumGravity

Mar 20, 2009
In 2008, the world of watchmaking witnessed the appearance of the C1 Tourbillon Gravity watch that marked the beginning of a new watchmaking era of remarkable innovations.

This year, the boundaries of mechanical watchmaking have been pushed even further: the C Lab Series has designed and developed a new breakthrough - the C1 QuantumGravity. The watch, relevant to the field of extreme watchmaking, is a symbol of unrestricted and unconstrained time, with just impulse and intuition prevailing.

The C1 QuantumGravity watch fires imagination by every aspect of its sophisticated outside and inside construction:
- an aerial bi-axial tourbillon mechanism,
- a vertical power reserve,
- individualist seconds,
- a stripped-down dial
- spectacular volumes.

The process of creation the C1 QuantumGravity watchmaking wonder started in the autumn of 2008. BNB Concept was entrusted with the movement of the watch, while Studio Bellon worked on the design.

10th Anniversary of Omega Co-Axial Escapement

Feb 17, 2009
The year 2009 has marked the 10th anniversary of an ingenious watchmaking innovation - the Omega Co-Axial Escapement invented by famous watchmaker George Daniels. The Co-Axial Escapement has become the first successful rival to the traditionally applied Swiss lever escapement.

The greatest advantage of the Omega Co-Axial escapement is the considerable reduction of friction among the parts transmitting energy to other components of the movement. As a result, the Co-Axial escapement implies enhanced stability of the precision of the timepiece, not to mention the reduced servicing needs for the movement.

In 2005, Omega introduced the 3313 Co-Axial chronograph movements. Then, in 2007, the world of watchmaking witnessed the appearance of an in-house produced Omega caliber built with the Co-Axial system at its core - the Omega 8500 caliber. The movement boasted not only innovative technical features but also a unique decorative finish.

In 2008, Omega equipped the first ladies watches with its Co-Axial movements, and the Seamaster Aqua Terra watches in particular. The same year the brand presented the 8601/8611 caliber, the first Omega Co-Axial movement that incorporated an annual calendar complication.

Nowadays, Omega has an ambitious goal of bringing Co-Axial performance to every mechanical timepiece it creates.

Orient Watches to Make USA debut - 11/17 on ShopNBC @ 10PM Est.

Nov 16, 2008
Orient will be making their USA debut this Monday on ShopNBC. As some other articles on Watch Infoniac have detailed so eloquently, having the chance to own an Orient watch is an exciting opportunity. And finally that opportunity is Now in the USA.

Orient quality sets their watches apart from other watch makers in the same price range. Most watch makers in this price range spend less money on quality and more money on advertisement. Orient, on the other hand, spends that money on in house movements and the addition of the power reserve indicator, usually not found in watches of this price range. It is easy to see that Orient is this industry's best kept secret.

So why should you buy from ShopNBC and not another online source? With the exception of Amazon, ShopNBC is the only licensed dealer of Orient Watches in the US. If you purchase an Orient watch from another source and try to send it in for repairs, Orient will not honor the warranty. In fact, you will receive the watch back in the mail with a letter instructing you to tell Orient where you acquired your illegal watch and to ask for a refund.
