With this remarkable creation the brand offers a worthy homage to the 28 Floreal. On this very day the Senate of Republican France declared Napoleon Bonaparte, Jerome DeWitt’s famous ancestor, an “Emperor of the French people”. It is not a coincidence that the Twenty-8-Eight Automatic was developed on the 28th of August!Inside this horological novelty is a self-winding movement - DWT8AU (ETA2892) calibre - a marvel of reliability and precision. It runs at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and boasts a 42-hour power reserve. This mechanism serves to display the functions of hours, minutes and seconds.
All the technical components of the men’s watch are housed in a 43 mm case, crafted from 18K pink gold. Manufactured from the same material, the crown is outfitted with a blackened titanium ring, featuring the “W” signature. Both the front and back parts of the case are shielded by a sapphire crystal.
The new DeWitt watch demonstrates an alluring velvety black dial. It proudly reveals an applique circle, flambe zone at the centre, as well as a fine radiating embellishment on the exterior. The dial is equipped with four oversized Roman numerals and hour-markers, performed in 18K pink gold.
Issued in limited edition of 500 items, the Dewitt Twenty-8-Eight Automatic watch is teamed with a matt black alligator strap, which terminates in an 18K pink gold buckle. The watch is 30-meter water-resistant. It will be unveiled at Baselworld 2010.
