Blancpain Presents Tribute to Fifty Fathoms Watch

The legendary Blancpain Fifty Fathoms watch joined the world of watchmaking in 1953. It was created on request from French Navy combat divers unit. Over time, the Fifty Fathoms watch became featured on the list of the most famous and reliable diver’s watches. The model has been launched in about twenty different variations.

Paying tribute to the iconic model, Blancpain is releasing the “Tribute to Fifty Fathoms”. The timepiece is limited to 500 pieces and is based on the 1960s model. It has successfully united the signature design of vintage Fifty Fathoms with the most innovative technologies innovations.

The Blancpain Fifty Fathoms “Tribute” watch demonstrates the following well-known characteristics of the Fifty Fathoms models:

• 300-meter water-resistance,


• supreme readability due to oversized hands and hour-markers,


• a black dial and bezel in contrast with the luminescent indications.

The rotating bezel of the watch is worth special attention. It is provided with raised notching for easy handling. It is fitted with the unidirectional rotation system to keep the diver away from any accidental extension of the dive time. The bezel is sculptured in scratch-resistant sapphire crystal. For improved shock-resistance, it demonstrates a slightly domed curve.

The case construction incorporates crown guards providing the security of the crown.
The 45 mm case is crafted from steel. The dial catches the glance by the anti-radiation symbol, implying that the type of luminescent coating used for the hour-markers contained no radioactive material.

The heart of the new Fifty Fathoms watch is an in-house mechanical self-winding movement - Caliber 1315 built from 222 components. The Blancpain watchmakers designed the caliber specifically for the models with a distinctively sporting vocation.

The 35-jewel movement gives an advantage of a 5-day (120-hour) power reserve. It became possible with help of three series-coupled barrels. The movement also offers a calendar display that allows easy date-change at midnight in either direction. Calibre 1315 is also provided with anti-magnetic protection, being housed in a special protective cage.

The Blancpain Tribute to Fifty Fathoms watch is presented on a black sail canvas strap with rubber lining. The sporty strap is sturdy and waterproof.
