The innovative wristwatch shows the time via Devon’s patented interwoven system of belts. The hours and minutes are expressed by the belts in exacting motion. The seconds indicator runs in continuous motion. The watch incorporates a proprietary optical recognition system responsible for monitoring each belt position at all times.
The movement of the four belts is driven by four remarkably compact microstep motors that are powered by a lithium polymer rechargeable cell. The cell is meant to run for about two weeks on one charge.
The belt assemblies are positioned on a central chassis, to provide the outstanding clearance of the moving parts. It even seems that the parts are floating within the watch case. The belts are produced from fiber-reinforced glass nylon. They are just 2/1,000 of an inch thick, yet they are strong and stable enough to guarantee continuous accuracy.
One more remarkable fact about the watch is that it is bullet-proof.
The Devon Tread 1 watch is expected to be available for about 15, 000 US dollars.
