FVa N 6 Tourbillon Planetaire Skeleton SuperLigero Concept will be presented by Franc Vila at Baselworld 2008. The timepiece is equipped with the movement built for the first time ever in ''lightnium'', an extremely innovative Aluminium-Lithium based alloy.

This new material represents a remarkably low density metal that was formerly used in state of the art aeronautical engineering. Lightnium is distinguished by its lightness along with high tensile strength, the characteristics that greatly contribute to structural weight reduction and an increase in elastic modulus.

FVa N 6 Tourbillon Planetaire Skeleton SuperLigero Concept is designed as a shock-and-stress-resistant construction that boasts irresistible aesthetics and great technical prowess. To develop a movement with superb characteristics in a material with remarkable properties, Franc Vila used the experience of disciplines not traditionally applied to High-End Watchmaking.

The case of the FVa N 6 Tourbillon Planetaire Skeleton SuperLigero Concept catches attention due to 'Esprit Unique' shape with elliptic and circular bezel. The watch's sapphire crystal and case-back are provided with double-sided anti-glare treatment. The construction offers 100-meter water resistance. The timepiece provides the following functions: hours, minutes and power reserve indication. The transparent sapphire dial reveals hours and minutes indications and the power reserve indication positioned at 9 o'clock.

The case of the watch is available in a variety of versions: titanium, steel, black PVD steel, 18K pink or white gold. There are also two-tone case versions: titanium and 18K gold, titanium and black steel, or titanium and steel.

FVa N 6 Tourbillon Planetaire Skeleton SuperLigero Concept is secured to the wrist with a black rubber strap equipped with a folding clasp.

This timekeeping wonder has been developed in a limited edition of 8 pieces.

One-of-a-Kind Tourbillon Movement

The structural design of the movement has been suggested by modern architecture. The watchmakers have used an extremely low density material and reduced the movement to its minimum expression, having converted it into a skeleton. The system is also characterized by maximum stability guaranteed by the rigidity of the movement constructed to withstand the stresses of the gear train, barrel and tourbillon, thus ensuring perfect performance.

The lightness of lightnium is a great advantage as the movement is less affected by inertial forces. Due to the lightness and strong architectural design, the tourbillon represents the strongest and sportiest skeleton watch you have ever seen in the category.

According to Franc Vila, the majority of skeleton watches are created as highly traditional machines characterized by ornate engraving and classical Rococo-Art-style motifs, with little attention to the movement's architecture. FVa N 6 Tourbillon Planetaire Skeleton SuperLigero Concept has been developed as a contemporary skeleton tourbillon that makes one feel influences of contemporary art, design and modern architecture.

The movement offers 5-day reserve power. A flying tourbillon, as the movement's regulatory organ, has incorporated the "Inertial Moment Control" that continuously and precisely regulates the tourbillon. A fast planetary winding function is guaranteed by differential system of planetary gears. It reduces by two-thirds the number of turns required for winding the timepiece.
