Tag Heuer Monaco LS Chronograph Calibre 12 Watch

The TAG Heuer legendary Monaco collection welcomes a new bold member – the Monaco LS Chronograph Calibre 12. The new timepiece pays tribute to the brand’s passion for high-speed and endurance racing, and honors the first Monaco, an automatic, square-faced, blue chronograph, worn by Steve McQueen 40 years ago on the Le Mans circuit.

The Tag Heuer Monaco LS Chronograph Calibre 12 watch is equipped with a reliable and functional Dubois Depraz caliber. The peculiarity of the movement is that the seconds are presented linearly via a rectangular opening at 3 o'clock, being indicated by the tip of a red rhodium hand. This way the seconds can be read at a glance and are immediately distinguished from the chronograph functions.

The dial of the is clearly inspired by the Monaco 360 Concept Chronograph. You will notice an angled window at 12 o'clock for showing the current date, along with the previous and next day, also in a linear fashion.

The chronograph hour and minute sub-dials are found at 6 and 9 o'clock. While the chronograph hours are featured in a circular sub-dial, the chronograph minutes are presented via a rotating disc moving through a semi-circular aperture.

The new TAG Heuer Monaco watch, reviewed by Watches.InfoNIAC.com, features a polished or brushed stainless steel case, 40.5 mm in diameter. The dial is protected by a generously curved and beveled scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, provided with anti-reflective double-sided treatment.

The Tag Heuer Monaco LS Chronograph Calibre 12 watch is delivered on a black alligator strap fitted with a folding clasp or a stainless steel bracelet provided with a unique micro-adjustment device. The timepiece is 100-meter water-resistant.

The new Monaco LS Chronograph Caliber 12 was unveiled at a grand launch party held in Paris on June 24. The evening was highlighted by the world premiere of a mini movie, The Duel.

The movie actually put Steve McQueen and F1 world champion Hamilton Lewis together on the screen, showing the competition between the two racing superstars, with McQueen at the wheel of his Gulf-Porsche 917 and wearing the original blue-faced Monaco chronograph, and Hamilton driving the single-seat McLaren car and wearing the new Monaco LS Chronograph.
