In 2007, TAG Heuer's Carrera line evolved into the high-end Grand Carrera. In a quest for supreme performance, in 2008 TAG Heuer presents two new models:
- the TAG Heuer Carrera Calibre 1 Vintage, limited edition model powered by a mechanical hand-wound movement, paying tribute to the origins of this exciting adventure;
- the Grand Carrera Calibre 17 RS2, a sophisticated timepiece blending high technology, setting up a base for future developments within the range.
Based on the distinctive architectural concept and circular scenography, the exhibition area introduces visitors to a 150-year-long watchmaking saga and the technological and aesthetic innovations in the area of sports timekeeping. The museum exhibits TAG Heuer watches representing major milestones in the development of Swiss watchmaking.
TAG Heuer Carrera Calibre 1 Vintage Limited Edition
The pure lines of the Carrera Calibre 1 Vintage will make you think of the gleaming bodywork of a collector's car.
The timepiece developed in a limited edition of 6000 pieces has incorporated a mechanism historically used for 1960s pocket watches. The polished steel case measures 43mm in diameter.
The understated dial features the small seconds at 6 o'clock - the semi-circular graduation reveals the rhodium-plated hand that indicates the seconds from 0 to 30 and the red hand indicating the seconds those from 30 to 60. The central part of the dial spotlights 'clous de Paris' hobnail motif, also featured by the movement and the rubber strap.
The TAG Heuer Carrera Calibre 1 Vintage goes on an interchangeable black alligator leather strap or black organic rubber enhancing the model's resolutely chic or downright sporty appeal. The timepiece showcases thorough concern for aesthetic details revealed by the hand-applied hour-markers, the logo, the double glare-proofing of the sapphire crystal and the polished hands. The refinement of the mechanical movement may be admired through the transparent case back.
The TAG Heuer Carrera Calibre 1 Vintage clearly expresses the founding principle of the collection - prestige dedicated to performance.
Grand Carrera Calibre 17 RS2 Limited Edition
The TAG Heuer Grand Carrera Calibre 17 RS2 may be described as a sophisticated, powerful, distinctively masculine and technical timepiece that seems to be created specially for racing tracks. The timepiece is crafted in Grade 2 Titanium (Ti2), a pure metal praised as ultra resistant and bio-compatible.
The timepiece is secured to the wrist with a matt black alligator strap provided with a 'soft touch' coating. The strap together with the smoothly dipping lugs guarantee optimal user-friendliness. The Ti2 case is reliably protected due to a black titanium carbide treatment. The red color of the seconds hand is echoed on the crown, the strap stitching and the inside part.
In the heart of the TAG Heuer Grand Carrera Calibre 17 RS2 there beats a COSC-certified chronograph movement that has incorporated the renowned Rotating Systems, the hallmark of the Grand Carrera collection. The revolutionary display mode is aimed at intuitive elapsed-time reading. The index remains fixed while the time indications rotate - small seconds are featured at 3 o'clock and chronograph minute counter at 9 o'clock.
Real watch aficionados will no doubt highly appreciate an impressive wealth of details matching the exclusive nature of the TAG Heuer watch:
- the Geneva stripes motif,
- the polished beveled finish of the Rotating Systems,
- the black-gold hand-applied hands, logo and hour-markers,
- the double sapphire crystal case-back revealing a 'turbine'.
The TAG Heuer Grand Carrera Calibre 17 RS2 chronograph has been developed in limited series of 1000 pieces. The timepiece is created as a fine way to express a luxurious vision of sporting passion.
The TAG Heuer Grand Carrera collection is clearly inspired by the following certainty: unite passion and willpower and the determination to win will surpass all the limits.
