Swatch Collection Inspired by James Bond's Villains

Aug 08, 2008
Fans of James Bond are well-aware that the legendary spy has long given his preference to Omega watches, and the Seamaster collection in particular.

No doubt, James Bond fans would be really excited if they found out that now James Bond's adversaries are to have their own watches, too.

Swatch, a famous maker of Swiss fashion watches, has created a whole new collection of watches dedicated to enemies of Agent 007 of Her Majesty's Secret Service. The collection is dubbed the Swatch 007 Villain Collection.

Why would Swatch ever come up with the idea of creating a watch collection for villains? The answer is simple - James Bond would not exist without his powerful enemies, as villains and their henchmen are all important in Ian Fleming's novels and the James Bond movies.

The Swatch 007 Villain Collection is inspired by the most memorable Bond's adversaries, real outlaw heroes, dangerous and nasty, armed to the teeth and ready to kill, such as Dr. No with his metal hands and Oddjob and his deadly bowler.

The Swatch 007 Villain Collection honors most famous outlaw actors, too:

  • Christopher Walken's malicious Max Zorin gets his stylish Retrograde;

  • Gerd Froebe's Goldfinger is to wear an oversized golden Irony THE Chrono;

  • Lotte Lenya’s Rosa Klebb has a pair of knuckle-dusters together with an Irony Lady;

  • Paying tribute to Casino Royale, impassive villain Mads Mikkelsen (alias Le Chiffre) gets an Irony Big with an Ace of Spades.

More details about the collection will be available after it is unveiled in early September.

According to Nicolas Hayek, founder and head of the Swatch Group, nicknamed Dr. Swatch, 'Omega is James Bond's watch of choice, but real villains prefer Swatch'.

I have the complete collection that I picked up for $4,000. Its pretty neat. It came with the whole set listed here as well as this fat book of all the villains and insider stories from the set, an autographed picture of the late-founder Nicholas Hayek of Swatch (who is shown throwing Odd Job's hat), and Jaws autograph (he is shown biting the links on the band of the signature watch). There were only 222 of these ever made so I snagged them when I saw em! My wife about killed me! Each watch was numbered on the back. It comes in a wooden crate and has a leather box that they come housed in. I would be willing to sell them if someone made me an offer of more than I paid. I've just been reading about all the villains on jamesbondswatch.wordpress.com.

It's such a cool range of watches. I'm still trying to decide which one to get!
