Ulysse Nardin Stranger - Exceptional Musical Watch

Mar 21, 2013
The horological world welcomes a masterpiece of the watchmaking art – the Ulysse Nardin Stranger watch. The novelty imitates a classical music box playing “Strangers in the Night” on the hour or on request. It has been inspired by the brand’s partner, musician and conceptual artist, Dieter Meier, and bears his signature. It belongs to a limited edition of just 99 pieces.

The development of the new Ulysse Nardin watch took more than five years. The “Stranger” represents a mechanical self-winding musical watch. It incorporates the brand’s silicium technology for the escapement and anchor of the in-house UN-690 movement. The watch wearer adjusts the time with utmost ease. He activates the crown function with help of a pusher instead of traditionally pulling out the crown. The 64-jewel movement provides 48 hours of power-reserve.

You can admire the action of the mechanism via a sapphire crystal. To hear the melody “Strangers in the Night” hourly or on request you have to actuate a special pusher. The on/off pusher for activating or deactivating the musical mechanism is found at 10 o’clock.

The integral pusher crown allows to set a number of functions, including winding, setting the date and correcting the time. You have to simply turn the crown forwards or backwards.

The 45 mm case is sculptured from 18K rose gold. It is 30-meter water-resistant.

The Ulysse Nardin Strange watch is presented on a leather strap fitted with a folding buckle.
