Richard Mille RM 026 Tourbillon Watch - Powers of Nature and Fine Watchmaking

Jan 26, 2011
In 2011, the Richard Mille collection welcomes a new tourbillon watch the RM 026, a unique union of sophisticated watchmaking and high quality jewelry.

The Richard Mille RM 026 Tourbillon watch is adorned with two precious creatures responsible for holding the tourbillon movement in place. These creatures are a ruby and diamond paved snake in 18k white gold and an emerald and diamond paved snake, also in 18k white gold, with a red coral tongue.

The timepiece has been created in a range of variations, including the ones encrusted with precious stones or semi-precious stones or engraved stones or with enameled bodies. The scales of the two majestic jewelry creations have been pieces engraved by hand.

In mythology, serpents are either good or evil. If they are good, they serve as natural guardians of temples and other sacred sites that are intimate and need protection.

The baseplate of the new Richard Mille watch is crafted in pure Black Onyx. Onyx varieties, featuring rectilinear black and white parallel stripes, belong to the agate family, while the fully black variety is true Black Onyx. The gemstone can deflect and direct harmful energy towards the Earth to provide stability and protect a person from negative thoughts and fill his life with equilibrium and inspiration.

The RM 026 Tourbillon watch incorporates an innovative power reserve indicator that uses a differential gearing system, directly linked to the winding barrel. With help of a red line etched on its surface, the direct turning of the 48 hours power reserve barrel makes the watch wearer at once notice that the watch needs to be wound. The torque limiting crown, provided with an extra security system, protects the movement from any accidental overwinding.

The caliber RM026 is a 21-jewel movement operating at a frequency of 21 600 vibrations per hour. The mechanism measures 30.20mm x 28.60mm and is just 4.97mm thick.

The sophisticated tripartite case of the Richard Mille tourbillon watch demonstrates a tonneau shape and is fully curved. It is created to provide extreme comfort of wearing. It is worth mentioning that the front and rear curves are featured by all Richard Mille cases, including tonneau, round, and rectangular ones. The watchmakers pay meticulous attention to assembling the bezel side and the case back in the case middle avoiding any constraint and preventing the damage of the sapphires.

The signature tonneau shape of the case was achieved via 47 stamping operations, with 21 of them for the forming. The tripartite case is 50-meter water-resistant.

The Richard Mille RM 026 Tourbillon watch is an elegant and mysterious timepiece, a successful union of the powers of Nature and Fine Watchmaking.
