Richard Mille Unveils RM 016 Titalyt Caliber

Apr 30, 2009
Watches in the Richard Mille collection are highly appreciated by watchmakers and watch lovers due to their powerful identity. Now, Richard Mille has created a new version of its extra-flat RM 016 caliber, having been inspired by the most innovative sectors such as biomedicine and aerospace.

The timepiece
is crafted in grade 5 titanium provided with Titalyt treatment, used in watchmaking for the first time.

The process of titanium oxidation is fulfilled using electro-plasma. It is aimed at improving the hardness of the metal, and its friction-, wear- and corrosion-resistance in particular, corresponding to AMS 2488D aerospace material norms. It is interesting for Watches.InfoNIAC.com to mention that this biocompatible treatment is widely applied in the aerospace, medical and automobile industries.

Having received the exclusive treatment, the case of the RM 016 Titalyt has become immediately recognizable, having acquired a unique and extraordinary color.

The case construction is shockproof and scratchproof. The strap is in perfect harmony with the case.

The Richard Mille RM 016 Titalyt accommodates an automatic skeleton movement that features hours, minutes, date indicator and variable geometry rotor.
