Ralph Lauren Sporting Chronograph Watch - Resolutely Masculine and Dynamic

Nov 23, 2011
Ralph Lauren is happy to unveil its new Sporting Chronograph men’s watch - a successful union of new design, reliable materials and refined finishes.

Driven by the passion for fine automobiles, Ralph Lauren has equipped its brainchild with a black varnished dial. Outwardly, it resembles the refined interior of the 1938 Bugatti Type 57SC Atlantic Coupe.

The display of the new Ralph Lauren watch is completed with white Roman numerals, inlaid with luminous compound. It indicates central hours and minutes, by means of shiny black oxidized sword-shaped hands, also applied with luminescent substance. Taking care of small seconds is a sub-dial at 6 o’clock.

The chronograph features are assured through a 30-minute sub-dial at 3 o’clock, 12-hour counter at 9 o’clock as well as a central Baton-type seconds hand in shiny red. The date indication is arranged in an aperture at 6 o’clock. All the counters are equipped with sword-shaped hands, inlaid with shiny white varnish. The range of functions is completed by a tachymeter scale, featured on the edge of the dial.

The new Ralph Lauren Sporting Chronograph watch is powered by a self-winding RL 750 caliber movement, made by Jaeger-LeCoultre for Ralph Lauren. Its decorative elements include Vertical Cotes de Geneve and Perlage. The movement comprises 261 individual parts. It runs at the rate of 28,800 vibrations per hour and provides a 48-hour power reserve.

The caliber finds its natural home in a matte black ceramic case. It measures 44.80mm in diameter and is 12.20 mm thick. The top of the case is covered by a convex sapphire crystal with a double-sided glare-proofed coating. Its bottom, meanwhile, is fitted with a tinted smoky black sapphire crystal, secured with 6 screws.

At 3 o’clock, the case features a matte black ceramic crown with RL initials logo. It is joined by chronograph pushers, made of the same material. The case provides 50-meter water-resistance.

The new Ralph Lauren watch is teamed with a 3-row matte black ceramic bracelet. It joins to a 3-part black PVD-treated stainless steel fold-over clasp.
