Marc Jenni Presents Innovative Prologue watch

At BaselWorld 2010, the Horology World witnessed the appearance of a one-of-a-kind timepiece based on an absolutely innovative concept. Marc Jenni’s Prologue watch was presented at the stand of AHCI (The Horological Academy of Independent Creators). The timepiece reflects modern thinking, passion, and great skills successfully integrated by the watchmaker into a traditional horological practice.

The concept behind this watch took Marc Jenni more than two years of elaboration. The most unusual thing about the Prologue watch is that it has no crown. All you see is a black button at 4 o’clock.

The secret of the Marc Jenni Prologue watch is that it boasts the first ever lateral winding mechanism incorporated in the black ring framing the middle part of the case and passing through the lugs.

The ring is designed to be rotated smoothly in either direction and allows winding, date-setting and time-setting.


You have to press the square push button at 4 o’clock to cycle through the three major functions “Wind, Date, Time”. The selected function is indicated by a hand in a triangular sub-dial at 3 o’clock. The state of the power reserve is displayed at 9 o’clock.


The case of the Prologue watch is rendered in 18Kt white or rose gold. The black ring is also crafted in 18Kt gold, but is provided with a soft coating for a comfortable grip.


The heart of the timepiece is the Calibre 2010 automatic movement, 22-jewel mechanism beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour and offering a 42 hour power reserve. The sapphire case-back allows to see the 22Kt oscillating weight reflecting the triangle motif featured on the dial. This original detail has been inspired by a centuries-old family coat of arms dating back to 1780 and Marc Jenni’s descendant, watchmaker Johan Jakob Jenni.

The Marc Jenni Prologue watch is 30-meter water-resistant.
