IWC Portuguese Automatic Edition Dragon Year Watch to Capture Good Fortune

IWC Schaffhausen pleases its fans by a new timepiece devoted to the Year of the Dragon the Portuguese Automatic Edition Dragon Year watch.

The novelty will be available in a limited edition of 888 pieces worldwide exclusively via selected retailers of the brand. According to the Chinese culture, the number 888 is associated with sustained riches and good fortune.

It should be mentioned that people in China and other Asian countries believe that the dragon brings good fortune and symbolizes power and leadership, strong character and prosperity.

The 42.3mm case of the new IWC watch is sculptured from 18K red gold. It is presented on a black alligator leather strap.

The slate-shaded dial demonstrates a twinkling sun-pattern finish and is completed with red gold numerals, hands and hour markers. The dial makes one feel its harmonious balance the small seconds are featured at 9 oclock, while the power reserve display is found at 3 oclock.

The dial of the IWC Portuguese watch is shielded by a solid, convex sapphire crystal with an antireflective coating on both sides.

The case of the IWC Portuguese Automatic Edition Dragon Year watch accommodates an in-house automatic movement - 51011 calibre. The 42-jewel movement, operating at a frequency of 21,600 alternations per hour, boasts a number of advanced features: highly efficient Pellaton winding, a power reserve of 7 days and the date display.

You can drop a glance at the unique mechanism via the see-through sapphire-crystal case-back that holds one more surprise - the rotor demonstrates an 18K gold medallion with an engraving of a dragon. The case-back also bears an engraving DRAGON YEAR ONE OUT OF 888.

The timepiece is 30-meter water-resistant.
