Porsche Design Presents New P'6520 Compass Watch

Aug 05, 2011
Now, watch lovers have at their disposal a high-precision timepiece and a compass in one - the new Porsche Design P6520 Compass watch. Both time and direction are indicated mechanically. The idea of the wristwatch was suggested by the first Compass watch conceived in 1978 by the designer Professor Ferdinand Alexander Porsche.

The Porsche Design Compass watch incorporates two parts. The upper part represents a three-hand timepiece animated by an automatic movement - the SW300 Sellita calibre. The black dial provides supreme readability it shows the time with help of white luminescent hands and indices and a red seconds hand. The date is found at 3 oclock.

When you open the lower part of the wristwatch, you see a liquid compass. You can easily remove the compass. The timepiece comes with a compass for both the northern and the southern hemisphere.

The case of the new Porsche Design watch has become slightly larger if compared to the original model. Now, it measures 42mm in diameter and is 1.6 mm high.

While the 1978 version was crafted from aluminium, the modern one is crafted from titanium, a material characterized by light weight, corrosion-resistance and non-allergenic and not-magnetic properties. Both the case and the bracelet are provided with a black PVD coating.

The new Porsche Design P6520 Compass watch is 50-meter water-resistant. The compass watch is limited to 911 pieces.
