The Glashutte Original Pocket Watch No. 1 has been inspired by a historical watch created by Julius Assmann, a celebrated pioneer of Glashutte watchmaking. It will be limited to just 25 pieces.
The case incorporates a special lever at 6 o’clock to be used for the repetition operation. The crown is used for winding the timepiece, while the two-level yoke winding mechanism is used for setting the time. It is remarkable that, for accurate setting, when the crown is pulled out, the balance wheel is halted and the eccentric seconds hand jumps to "zero".
The white enamel dial features two blued steel hands a thin minute hand and an hour hand in the signature “poire” form. The second hand is found in a sub-dial at 6 o’clock. The dial is also completed with elegant black Roman numerals and a minute ring.
The Pocket Watch No. 1 guarantees precision timekeeping, housing a freshly designed hand-wound calibre 84-01. The Glashutte Original exquisitely decorated caliber may be admired through a doubly non-reflecting sapphire crystal. The movement boasts a three quarter plate, screwed gold chatons, balance cock, engraved by hand, and swan-neck fine adjustment. The mechanism provides a 36-hour power reserve.
The Glashutte Original Pocket Watch No. 1 demonstrates two hinged polished rose gold lids on both sides. The rear lid reveals the artistically engraved name of the timepiece and its serial number.
The pocket watch is presented on a rose gold chain in a special waistcoat pocket. It is a fine timekeeping companion for today’s refined gentleman.
As Watches.InfoNIAC.com found out, the Glashutte Original Pocket Watch No. 1 is expected to be available starting with April 2010, after it is officially unveiled at Baselworld 2010.
