Pierre DeRoche has introduced a new watch - the
Pierre DeRoche GrandCliff TNT Royal Retro equipped with the
first movement that incorporates six retrograde seconds mechanisms.
The remarkable thing about the movement is that all the retrograde hands are driven not by cams but by gears. Moreover, the traditional balance-spring system has been substituted with a strip-spring, so the retrograde hands come back to their initial positions after "they have passed on the baton" to the next hand. This innovative approach gives an advantage of improved design and shock-resistance.
The dial demonstrates a relay team of six retrograde seconds hands. For indicating the sector with the moving hand, the middle of its bridge has a
small window that becomes red. When the hand finishes its 10-second cycle, it "passes on the baton" to the hand in the next sector and returns to its initial position. This way the hands continuously pass on the "baton".

Pierre DeRoche has recently unveiled the
SplitRock MDA Full-Black Chronograph at Baselworld 2009.
The model in question exposes a long rectangle stainless steel case, sized 46 x 31.6mm and treated with
PVD coating, which ensures avoiding any risk of scratching. The finish performed in black is polished and brushed.
The dial demonstrates a superb black guilloche pattern, black steel hands and black hour markers. A few
red accents - the medium date, chronograph hour and minutes hands - are added to the dial to contrast against its black background.
The hands and hour markers demonstrate
black Superluminova application.
The chronograph located at 6 o’clock has one counter only. It comprises three concentric hands: a chronograph hour, minute and seconds hands.
The main dial features no seconds hand, meaning that the seconds should be read off the small seconds display which constitutes a part of the chronograph counter. By starting the chronograph, you temporarily turn off the small seconds function to be able to use the hand for counting chronograph seconds.
The chronograph push-pieces – another extraordinary element of this watch’s design – are placed on both left and right sides of the case, contrary to the conventional 2 and 4 o'clock positions.
The date is visible through the medium date exhibition window located at 12 o'clock. The watch houses a unique
automatic winding Dubois Depraz calibre, distinguished by impressive embellishment and an etched cut-out oscillating weight. The timepiece provides 30-meter water-resistance. The black crocodile leather strap fitted with steel folding clasp demonstrates
red contrast stitching.
