The independent watch company
Peter Speake-Marin has presented its novel timepiece, standing out due to its special design defined by the human skull.
Mr Speake-Marin, famous for his
Piccadilly watch line, was also involved in cooperation with
Christophe Claret and
Roger Dubuis in order to create an exclusive
Maitres du Temps Chapter One for 2008.
It was a special request from the client for a customized watch that prompted Peter Speake-Marin to visualize the
"Skulls Concept" watch for the first time. The customer eventually decided on a different design though, but the watchmaker snatched the idea and got down to creating his own model, he intended to launch as a limited series timepiece.
The Speake-Marin Skulls Concept timekeeping companion will be
limited to just 20 items.
The
watch case, shaped after that of the Piccadily, boasts a diameter of 40.6mm. The watch is distinguished by a tall polished case-band, strong strap lugs with a special screwed-through bar and a knurled conical crown. The four skulls, sculptured from matte-finished gold, sit against 490 Top Wesselton round brilliant diamond-set background.
The Skulls Concept timepiece is powered by the
automatic SM2 caliber with hours, minutes, and central sweep seconds. This exceptional mechanical movement is also characterized by bridges, crafted in untreated German silver, a swan neck fine regulator, a balance with a Breguet overcoil hairspring and the central winding rotor, executed entirely by Speake-Marin.
The balance wheel beats at the pace of 21,600 vibrations per hour. The
"Skulls Concept" watch features a lengthy
power reserve of 72 hours.
