The story of Patek Philippe watches with a 10-day power reserve started in 2000, when Patek Philippe introduced the 10-day Ref. 5100 and the trend for watches, offering 4-, 6-, 8-day power reserve, was born.
Three year later, Patek Philippe premiered the Ref. 5101P, already mentioned above. The timepiece boasted not only the 10-day power reserve but also a tourbillon escapement and up to this day, it is still the only wristwatch with a winding crown that boasts such a remarkable autonomy.

The dial features a power-reserve indicator at 12 o'clock that keeps the watch’s owner aware of the residual power reserve. The 11th segment of the power reserve scale is distinctively red, as a signal that it is necessary to rewind the watch. To make the movement regain the 10-day power reserve, it is necessary to turn the crown 100 times!
The extraordinary Patek Philippe movement incorporates a tourbillon escapement that comprises 72 individual parts, weighing just 0.3 grams. The steel parts of the filigreed cage all demonstrate meticulous hand-finishing.
The elegant rectangular case of the Patek Philippe watch is performed in the art deco style. The case, sculptured in 18K rose gold, features sleek three-tiered flanks. The anatomically curved case, with convex sapphire-crystal glass and screwed sapphire-crystal case back, provides supreme comfort on the wrist. The timepiece, reviewed by Watches.InfoNIAC.com, is 25-meter water-resistant.
The 18K gold dial, featuring dark silvery gray hue, demonstrates two bright silvery guilloche-patterned sub-dials for the seconds at 6 o'clock and the power-reserve indicator at 12 o'clock. The dial also shows the movement’s serial number and the inscriptions “Patek Philippe” and “Tourbillon”.
The dial is completed with leaf-shaped hour and minute hands and applied Breguet numerals, also performed in 18K rose gold. The sapphire-crystal case back allows to see the nicely decorated plate and bridges, the sophisticated tourbillon, and the jewels in gold chatons.
The Patek Philippe Ref. 5101R 10-Day Tourbillon watch is secured to the wrist on a hand-stitched, large-scale alligator strap fitted with a rose gold prong buckle.
