New Panerai P.999 Caliber for New Radiomir Watch

Nov 11, 2009
Officine Panerai is proud to unveil its new hand-wound mechanical movement - the P.999 caliber, designed, developed and produced absolutely independently at the Neuchatel manufacture.

The P.999, characterized by reliability, robustness and precision, has a special structure with wide separated bridges, a distinctive feature of all the other manufacture calibers.

The P.999 caliber measures 27.4 mm in diameter and is 3.4 mm thick. Thus, the movement is a little smaller than other calibers of the brand. It represents a perfect heart for timepieces smaller in diameter and thickness.

The 154-component, 19-jewel, single-barrel movement gives an advantage of a 60-hour power reserve. It animates small seconds at 9 oclock. It has a balance wheel performing 21,600 alternations per hour.

The balance wheel , fitted with adjusting screws, is provided with an Incabloc anti-shock device protection. The regulating system incorporates a swans neck spring.
The P.999 calibre is reserved for some of the Panerai Historic Collection models.

The new Panerai caliber is set in the new Radiomir watch in pink gold. The Radiomir P.999 42 MM Pink Gold watch boasts the signature design of the iconic Panerai model. Moreover, it is thinner and lighter compared to the previous Radiomir models.

The pink gold case of the new Radiomir watch is satin-finished, resulting in a more understated and refined surface. The small polished bezel creates a nice contrast to the satin-finished case body.

The dial of the Panerai watch is created in an eye-pleasing dark brown shade and features the classic layout of Radiomir watches. It is protected by an anti-scratch and anti-glare sapphire crystal.

The dial offers utmost legibility in the dark. It has a sandwich-like structure, with the luminescent material inserted between two metal layers. The top layer is perforated to feature the numerals and indexes. The index-shaped hands are also luminescent and plated in pink gold, as well as the small seconds hand in the sub-dial at 9 oclock.

The case construction of the Panerai watch incorporates easy-to-remove wire lugs, so, if required, the watch owner will easily substitute the strap. It also incorporates the classic screw-down, truncated-cone crown to offer maximum water-tightness. The timepiece is 100-metre water-resistant.

As found out, the Panerai Radiomir P.999 42 MM Pink Gold watch will be available in a limited edition of 500 pieces. It belongs to the Historic Collection of the brand. The timepiece is coupled with a dark brown alligator leather strap fitted with a pink gold pin buckle.
