Panerai Luminor 1950 Destro 8 Days Titanio Special Edition Watch - Perfect Legibility

Jan 26, 2011
The Italian watchmaking house Officine Panerai is delighted to present its new Luminor 1950 Destro 8 Days Titanio Special Edition watch. It is an extension of the brand’s acclaimed collection, reserved specially for left-handed people.

According to scientists, the number of left-handers constitutes at least 1/10th of the global population. Therefore, the models of this kind are highly appreciated.

Offered in a limited edition of just 1000 pieces, the new Panerai watch employs a generously-sized 47 mm case. Performed in the shape of a cushion, it is rendered in brushed titanium. The same material is used for the signature crown guard. The protected crown is featured at 9 o’clock. The watch construction is 100-meter water-resistant.

Embraced by the case is a supremely legible dark-toned dial. It is completed with contrasting indexes. The latter are kept company by large Arabic numerals, featured at 3, 6, 9 and 12 o’clock. Turning over them are hour and minutes hands, crafted from gold.

The small seconds are indicated in a counter at 3 o’clock. Designed in a discreet style, the face of the new Luminor 1950 Destro 8 Days Titanio Special Edition watch also includes the name of the brand’s collection, presented beneath the Arabic number at 12 o’clock. The symmetry of the display is ensured by the power reserve indicator, revealed above the numeral at 6 o’clock.

Protecting the dial is a sapphire crystal cover encircled by a round-shaped bezel, sculptured in polished titanium. The company’s peerless artisans have also fitted the timepiece with a sapphire crystal case-back.

The interior life of the watch is represented by a Swiss made hand-wound manufactory-made caliber P.2002/9 movement. Artfully studded with 23 jewels, it boasts 31.02 mm in diameter and stands 8.20 mm in height. The mechanism comprises 246 individual parts.

The movement is endowed with three high-speed spring barrels, which ensure an impressive power reserve of 192 hours that is 8 days.

The new Panerai watch is accompanied by a personalized brown leather strap. Adorned with white stitching, it joins to an oversized brushed titanium buckle. The timekeeping companion is delivered with a second interchangeable strap, a tool to change the strap and a steel screwdriver.
