May 24, 2013
Rolex is proud to present a new version of the Oyster Perpetual Yacht-Master II watch. The high-performance timepiece debuted at Baselworld 2013. It is aimed at professional skippers and yachting enthusiasts.

The famous regatta chronograph, born in 2007, has been created for the first time in 904L steel. The case is built with a CERACHROM bezel insert crafted in blue ceramic.

The new Rolex watch boasts an exclusive function - a countdown to be programmed from 1 to 10 minutes. The countdown function has been developed to guarantee precise timing during the most important starting sequence of a regatta. The function is based on a mechanical memory, so the watch wearer can reset it to the same countdown duration. One can also synchronize the function on the fly, so one can adjust it to match the official regatta countdown. The technically sophisticated countdown function is extremely user-friendly one programs it with help of the rotatable RING COMMAND bezel.

The Oyster case, 44 mm in diameter, is 100-meter water-resistant. It is finely proportioned and both robust and elegant. The middle case is sculptured from a solid block of 904L steel that is remarkably corrosion-resistant.

Rolex watchmakers hermetically screwed down the fluted case-back using a special tool exclusive to the brand. The winding crown is provided with the patented TRIPLOCK triple waterproofness system. The crown is protected by a crown guard representing an integral part of the middle case. The face of the watch is shielded by a scratchproof sapphire crystal. The waterproof case ensures supreme protection for the models movement.

The heart of the Rolex Oyster Perpetual Yacht-Master II watch is a self-winding mechanical chronograph movement - Calibre 4161. Its column wheel has been independently developed and manufactured by the brand. The mechanism represents an officially COSC-certified chronometer, a guarantee of superior precision and reliability. The oscillator incorporates a blue PARACHROM hairspring patented and manufactured by the brand in an exclusive alloy. The PARACHROM hairspring is insensitive to magnetic fields, resistant to temperature changes and shocks.

The new Rolex Oyster Perpetual Yacht-Master II watch is firmly anchored on a solid-link Oyster bracelet crafted in 904L steel. It is equipped with an Oysterlock safety clasp to exclude accidental opening. It also boasts the brands patented EASYLINK rapid extension system it can be used to easily lengthen the bracelet by about 5 mm.
