In 2010, Rolex is pleased to present new versions of its timeless Submariner watch – the Oyster Perpetual Submariner Date. Now, the watch is crafted in 904L steel and demonstrates new features.
The case of the new Submariner measures 40mm in diameter. It is available with a black or green dial and bezel. The robust construction boasts supreme corrosion-resistance. It incorporates a new unidirectional rotatable bezel equipped with a remarkably scratchproof black Cerachrom insert (green for the variation featuring a green dial). The bezel is completed with platinum graduations for 60 minutes. With the bezel the watch owner gets the safe reading of dive time. The Triplock winding crown is fitted with special protective shoulders.
The dial of the new Submariner Date guarantees perfect legibility as it is completed with luminescent Chromalight-coated hour markers and hands. The face of the watch is shielded by a sapphire crystal with Cyclops lens with anti-reflective coating.
The heart of the new Rolex watch is a self-winding mechanical movement - the Calibre 3135. The mechanism, beating at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, incorporates a Perpetual rotor and a Parachrom hairspring, offering enhanced precision and reliability of a COSC-certified chronometer. It gives an advantage of a 48-hour power-reserve. The movement allows to instantaneously change and rapidly set the date.
The Rolex Oyster Perpetual Submariner Date watch is coupled with the brand’s Oyster bracelet, also crafted from 904L steel. It is fitted with the Rolex Glidelock clasp for most easy regulation of the bracelet’s length.
