Rolex Oyster Perpetual Explorer 39mm Watch - Reliable and Robust

Mar 25, 2010
The rich history of Rolex Oyster Perpetual watches have been highlighted by some remarkable human achievements. In 1953, Sir Edmund Hillary and Tensing Norgay conquered Everest, accompanied by reliable timekeeping instruments - Rolex Oyster Perpetual watches.

Their direct descendent, the Explorer, is another Rolex watch created in the spirit of a manís irrepressible need for meeting new challenges. Starting with the late 1920s, Rolex has been using the outside world as a laboratory to test its timepiece under real conditions, having equipped numerous expeditions in the Himalayas and used their experience for its further product development.

A true embodiment of persistence, experience and creativity, the new Rolex Oyster Perpetual Explorer 39mm watch is devoted to its heritage and unique identity. The timepiece has been unveiled at Baselworld 2010.

The watch is sculptured from 904L steel, the material highly appreciated by watchmakers for its outstanding anti-corrosion properties. While the modelís predecessors featured 36mm cases, the case of the latest Explorer measures 39 mm in diameter, having acquired a bolder look and offering more comfort of wearing.

The new Rolex watch offers supreme precision of a COSC-certified chronometer and resistance to extreme conditions as it accommodates Caliber 3132, the brandís self-winding mechanical movement that incorporates a Perpetual rotor, a Parachrom hairspring and Paraflex shock absorbers. The freely-sprung balance wheel beats at the frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour. The movement gives an advantage of a 48-hour power reserve.

The case construction incorporates a smooth polished bezel and a flat sapphire crystal. It is 100-meter water-resistant.

The black dial of the new model is almost the same as the one featured by 36mm Explorer watches. It is completed with three big Arabic numerals and luminous baton-shaped hour-markers.

The time is indicated by the polished hour hand and a sword-like minute hand produced from polished white gold. In the lower part of the dial, you will notice the "Explorer" name placed atop the inscription "Superlative Chronometer Officially Certified".

The Rolex Oyster Perpetual Explorer 39mm watch, reviewed by, is presented on the signature Oyster bracelet fitted with the brandís Easylink comfort extension link for most simple regulation of the strapís length with no need for tools.
