New Omega Seamaster Limited Edition: Planet Ocean 600m Quantum Of Solace

Sep 23, 2008
An Omega Seamaster watch has become one of the key elements of James Bond's image, along with an Aston Martin car and a Walther PPK pistol.

The November worldwide release of the latest James Bond movie - much-anticipated 'Quantum of Solace' - will be commemorated by the introduction of a new limited edition Omega Seamaster watch.

The new Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean 600m Quantum Of Solace Limited Edition will be available in a limited number of 5,007 pieces. The technical features and design details of the timepiece perfectly match the needs of the most famous spy and strengthen his irresistible charm.

The polished and brushed stainless steel case of the Omega watch measures 45.50 mm in diameter. The case construction incorporates a stainless steel unidirectional bezel with a black aluminum ring, as well as a stainless steel screw-in crown. The helium escape valve is found at 10 o'clock. The curved scratch-resistant sapphire crystal is provided with inside anti-reflective treatment.

James Bond movies' fans will be delighted to see the words 'Quantum of Solace' that are discreetly laser-engraved on the inside of the sapphire crystal.

The screwed-in stainless steel case back of the Omega watch features a '007' emblem stamp engraved with the limited edition number. The timepiece boasts 600-meter water resistance.

One more exquisite design detail worth special attention is the pattern of the black dial - its texture has been inspired by the checkered plastic grip panels of a Walter PPK, James Bond's weapon of choice.

The dial of the Omega watch is completed with polished flat facetted applied Arabic numeral, the brand's name and logo, as well as white Super-LumiNova polished indexes and hands. The central seconds hand improves readability of the dial due to its red tip.

The Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean 600 m Quantum of Solace Limited Edition is equipped with Omega's caliber 2500, a self-winding mechanical movement fitted with the Co-Axial escapement technology. The COSC-certified movement offers 48 hours of the power reserve.

The new Omega Seamaster goes on a brushed and polished stainless steel bracelet fitted with a Diver's clasp. Omega and James Bond collectors will be pleased to see the timepiece presented in a special black Quantum of Solace presentation box.

To answer a few questions on here. The limited edition quantum of solace watch only comes in the 45.5mm case limited to 5007 pieces. That's it no more will be made. The one Daniel Craig wore in the movie was 42mm and was the standard Planet Ocean (that would be the cheaper one someone was refering too). However, he did wear the limited edition piece in a trailer video to promote the movie and watch too. Both the standard one and the limited edition look great. I went to a AD (authorized dealer) and checked out both. I decided to go with the limited edition one, better craftsmanship and overall looked better to me. They are both great watches though. I would spring for the limited edition one though if you can still find it. Be very cautious purchasing high quaility swiss made watches on the internet due to all the fakes out there. Oh, and it is on the offical Omega website look under the James Bond link. Hope these comments helped

Craig wore the 42mm in the film.
Just spoke with someone who worked on the film.

I am delighted with my planet ocean. Go for the one Bond wears in Quantum not the limited edition with the ridiculous Quantum Of Solace written on the face. Come to think of it the 007 on the back of the case may also blow your cover with the girlies. I did pick up a few scratches on the crystal fighting enemy agents but I have had the lens professionally buffed and although the coating is now removed it looks better than when new. This watch is far superior in every way to my Rolex Submariner with its cheap looking tinny clasp but of course the Sub will hold it's price better.

Why do they create just a limited edition of Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean 600m Quantum Of Solace? they could create some simpler and less expensive variation for numerous Omega & James Bond fans and I'm sure it would also be sold out in no time.

This watch looks really cool. Is Daneil Craig's wrist that big?
posted by: C / Nov 19, 2008 02:16 PM
Hey Brian, it is most unlikely that Omega will release the same watch in a smaller size. These watches have sold out all over the world and are now really hard to track down! The watch is quite big, especially on my wrist, but it was probably designed for Daniel Craig.
