Nubeo Black Mamba - Basketball Star-Inspired Watch

Mar 25, 2009
Swiss watchmaker, Nubeo, famous for its watches shaped as a jellyfish, has joined efforts with Kobe Bryant, one of the brightest stars in the world of basketball, to create a unique collection of Black Mamba watches. In case you are not a basketball fan, the name of the collection has been suggested by the nickname of the Los Angeles Lakers leading player.

The new Nubeo watch collection has been created to unite the values shared by the world of sports and the world of luxury watchmaking.

Moreover, watches.infoniac.com has found out that Ivan Castro, Nubeos co-founder, is an avid basketball fan. Mr. Castro wants Nubeos customers to wear something different from the big brand names. He says, the brand creates timepiece following its own rules.

The sophisticated case construction of the Black Mamba watch, that is equally light and sturdy, has been created using a number of innovative materials.

The 48mm-in-diameter case, built from 131 components, is crafted from titanium treated with DLC to add extra strength to the case components and enhance its look with eye-appealing black finish.

It incorporates a ceramic bezel built from 36 parts, as well as rubber crowns and pushers. The case is coupled with a masculine rubber strap.
There are also versions of the watch adorned with sapphires.

The boldly-designed Nubeo watch is animated by a self-winding mechanical movement - the Valjoux 7750 calibre. It is 100-meter water-resistant.

The Nubeo Black Mamba watch collection is to be introduced at Baselworld 2009. The price of the timepiece is expected to be around 22,000 dollars at the lowest.
