Rolex has developed a new Sea-Dweller watch for most courageous and adventurous divers who are ready to conquer unbelievable depths and need a reliable timekeeping companion on their wrist.

The new Rolex Oyster Perpetual Sea-Dweller DEEPSEA provides a remarkable waterproofness to an extreme depth of 3,900 meters (equal to12, 800 feet). The diver's watch has required its creators to come up with a few innovative decisions - the timepiece is based on a RINGLOCK SYSTEM, a new Rolex-patented case architecture that is able to resist the colossal pressure exerted by water at extreme depths.

The first major feature of the innovative system is the high-performance ring that is set inside the middle case between the crystal and the case back. The ring is produced from the nitrogen-alloyed stainless steel. It allows the watch to resists the pressure exerted by water on the crystal and the case back. The middle case is produced from 904L steel.

Another important component of the RINGLOCK SYSTEM is the synthetic sapphire crystal that is slightly domed and much thicker than the crystals of other Rolex Oyster watches.

Finally, the system features the case back made of a titanium alloy, a stainless material of extreme resistance. The case back is held in place against the high-performance ring with help of a 904L-steel ring.

The Sea-Dweller DEEPSEA is equipped with a unidirectional rotating bezel that has incorporated a 60-minute graduated black CERACHROM disc to be used by the diver for precise tracking of his dive time. Here comes one more Rolex-patented innovation - the CERACHROM disc is engraved with the numerals and the graduations filled with platinum while applying an innovative PVD technique.

The zest of the graduated bezel is the zero triangular marker provided with a capsule filled with a new luminescent material emitting a blue glow for longer visibility at night or at extreme depths.

The dial of the Rolex Sea-Dweller DEEPSEA is characterized by perfect legibility - it is completed with gold indexes and hands that are wider and specially coated with the same new luminescent material emitting a blue glow.

The heart of the Rolex watch is caliber 3135, acclaimed for its chronometric precision, reliability and its robustness. The mechanism is provided with a PARACHROM hairspring to guarantee high resistance to shocks and magnetic fields.

The highly reliable nature of the movement is COSC-chronometer certified. It offers an advantage of a 48-hour power reserve.

The Rolex Sea-Dweller DEEPSEA is complemented by a solid 904L steel bracelet. The wearer of the watch will be able to adjust the length of the bracelet for wear the timepiece over a diving suit up to 7 mm thick thanks to a double extension system that includes Fliplock extension links and the new GLIDELOCK clasp.

12,800ft? I have stepped in puddles deeper than that. Pond life. When they make a Sea Dweller capable of 21,000 ft so I can reach the Titanic, then call me....
Sorry for the sarcasm, but hell.. that is deep. Even the notorious Comex can't even break 4000 ft with another Janus or Hydra project with a few more nut case frog divers dumb enough to volunteer for the gig! So, why make a watch to withstand that depth? Even if you drop it in the marianus trench, you can not even go and get the bloody thing...
It does look very cool though....

As a professional diver and emergency services worker with over 25 years experience, you simply can't beat the Rolex for durability and reliability. If everything in life worked as well... I had it serviced every five years or so, and never had any problems. Believe me-- it survived some very rough treatment. I just picked up my new Deep Sea Sea Dweller, and because I kept my older Sea Dweller in good shape, the shop gave me half of today's cost of a Sea Dweller towards the new Deep Sea. If that doesn't prove the intrinsic value of the Rolex brand, I don't know what would. Mind you, as has been mentioned, they are not for everyone-- if you want to make a fashion statement, get a Daytona.

I’ m one of numerous Rolex fans and I can say this new model is a true hit. I’m happy to own a Daytona watch and I wear it almost everyday. I’ really pleased with its top quality. It finely matches a suit or casual clothes, great look and timeless design. I’m quite used to getting daily compliments - lots of people ask me a lot of questions about the watch but I do not mind? I like talking about my Rolex. If you buy a Rolex watch, you will surely enjoy wearing it at least for a few years and if you accidently get bored of it, you will easily sell it for at least the same price you paid.

3900m who in gods name goes that deep a nuc sub cant get that deep,
Rolex buy a second hand submariner it looks good and does the job if you like baths and not showers that is,
There is only one watch name at the top and others will never take that palce its just about history,
from horology we know that a george danials watch would be a show stopper but only 36 were made in his life so we wont get one of them
so the rolex is the one

I'm a commercial diver and have used a SD4000 for work since 1987. I have used a Zodiac Super Sea Wolf 75 and a Sekio Diver's 300 prior. The Sea Dweller is the only one to really take a beating and last. I just had the crystal changed agin due to burn marks on it from welding. In September I bought the new SD Deep Sea and it is a fine diving tool also. I think it is time to have the old SD rebuilt by Rolex agin (I send it to them every 5 years) and put away in a box for my son when he's older. On the SDDS, don't knock the writing on the ring or face until you see one in real life...all the web and print pictures make it look ugly I agree, but this is far from the truth on your wrist. Leave the Subs to the landlubbers in the office and bars to impress the ladies . Only professional divers need the SD or SDDS.

so i just picked up my DEEP SEA today. Its a good size and thicker then i thought when i saw it on the website. The glow of the dials are great. I have a thick wrist so rolex always looked small on my wrist and I have a Bell and Ross and Panerai. My only real issue is that the band tappers alot from 22mm to 20mm so it looks a little silly with a massive watch and skinny band.

This Rolex Sea-Dweller DEEPSEA is a real masterpiece! I have owned a Rolex Sea-Dweller for over 6 years (I bought it in 2002). It slightly reminds me a Submariner model but its case is a little thicker and you will see no magnifier over the date. I wanted to buy a Rolex watch as I know it produces reliable automatic watches. My Sea-Dweller is really accurate, it does not gain or lose time, there have been no need so far to have it serviced or calibrated. I think all Rolex watches are masterpieces, fully hand made, not to be compared to Quartz watches. That is also great that prices for Rolex watches increase with time. I bought my Sea-Dweller for 4000 dollars in 2002 and now the new one costs about 5375!

It is still the same old looking style as always by Rolex. CX Swiss-Military brought out a 12,000 feet (3657 meters) automatic chronograph some years ago that went into the Guiness book of world records. It is a MUCH better watch for less than half the price, and it's a chronograph. And yes it is a certified chronometer. You decide?

No one ever regretted buying quality and service. Rolex Deep Sea give you both. for around 10 grand though. I paid over 5 for my regular sea dweller, and it has truly taken a beating and kept on ticking.

Besides a rolex defines who you are. As for the fakes, they turn toes up when the diving starts

Waste of money IMHO. I agree with Ment. OK watch for Rolex, but everyone, including my mechanic is wearing a rollie now days. Is it his dads or a fake? Much nicer diving watches out there...

3, 900 meters? Is it meant for divers who accidentally drop their watch at this depth and then manage to fish it out with help of some tricky equipment?
