New Omega Seamaster - Aqua Terra Co-Axial GMT Chronograph Watch

Jun 25, 2009
Omega introduced its novel Seamaster Aqua Terra collection in 2008. The new watches fascinated watch connoisseurs by their eye-catching design and advanced technology.

This year, the highly successful collection has been joined by the Seamaster Aqua Terra Co-Axial GMT Chronograph.

The signature feature of the collection is its “Teak Concept” dial demonstrating vertical lines, inspired by the wooden decks on luxury boats. The dial is reliably shielded by a domed, scratch-resistant sapphire crystal provided with anti-reflective treatment on both sides.

The Aqua Terra watch accommodates a self-winding movement with luxury finishing. The movement provides supreme performance, uniting the brand’s exclusive Co-Axial calibre 3603 and a free sprung balance. The outstanding precision of the movement is guaranteed by the COSC- chronometer certification. The timepiece is also fitted with a column-wheel chronograph mechanism.

The Aqua Terra Co-Axial GMT Chronograph is created as a great timekeeping companion for those who often travel between time zones. The GMT hand of the Omega watch performs one complete rotation in 24 hours.

The polished, brushed case of the new Seamaster watch, measuring 44mm in diameter, is sculptured in 18K red gold or stainless steel. The timepiece is 150-meter water-resistant.

The case construction of the timepiece
incorporates a bi-directional rotating GMT bezel, also in 18K red gold or stainless steel. The bezel is fitted with a black-PVD-coated ring featuring a 24-hour scale.

The case construction also incorporates a matt polished screw-in crown demonstrating a polished Omega logo and polished chronograph pushers. The polished screw-in case back has a sapphire crystal window revealing the Co-Axial movement at work.

The Aqua Terra Co-Axial GMT Chronograph watch, reviewed by, has a teak-grey dial completed with black sub-dials - a small seconds counter at 9 o’clock, a 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock and a 12-hour counter at 6 o’clock. The easy-to-adjust date function is presented via a small window between 4 and 5 o’clock.

The dial features hour, minute, GMT and chronograph seconds hands at the center. The facetted hour, minute and GMT hands are crafted in 18K gold and provided with white Super-LumiNova coating for perfect readability in any light conditions. The GMT hand is distinguished by a red arrow tip. The dial is completed with applied 18K gold triangular hour markers with diamond-polished sides, provided with white Super-LumiNova coating. You will notice a diamond-brushed applied Omega name and logo in 18K gold.

The red gold variation of the Omega Aqua Terra Co-Axial GMT Chronograph watch is presented on an 18K red gold bracelet fitted with Omega’s patented screw-and-pin system, as well as a safety clasp. It is also available with a brown alligator leather strap.

As for the stainless steel version, it goes on a black "soft-touch" integrated alligator leather strap or with a stainless steel bracelet, also provided with the screw-and-pin system.
