F.P.Journe Unveils New Chronometre Bleu Watch

Oct 02, 2009
The famous watchmaker F.P.Journe has released its newest Chronometre Bleu watch, which demonstrates unparalleled chronometric features, taking this model to the totally new frontiers in terms of high exactitude.

The 39mm case of the novel timekeeper is rendered in tantalum: a rare dark grey metal, featuring blue hues. Distinguished by a high degree of corrosion and wear-resistance, tantalum, however, is not commonly employed in the manufacture of timepieces, since this material has a density of 16.3 and requires a very high fusion temperature of 3000, so it extremely difficult to work with.

The chrome blue dial coordinates perfectly with the color of the case, performed in an up-to-date manner. The hands, exposed on the watch dial, make a fine match with massive Arabic numerals, presented in cream color. The guilloche seconds counter, located at 7.30, echoes the main dial appearance.

Similar to all F.P.Journe watches, the hand-wound movement of the Chronometre Bleu timepiece is sculptured in 18K rose gold. It runs at 21,600 vibrations per hour. The twin barrels serve to continuously provide the watch with energy, ensuring a 56-hour power reserve.

Bearing the label Invenit et Fecit, which means, Conceived and Manufactured, each of the brands unique movements assures a top-quality calibre, conceived, executed and assembled in F.P.Journes Geneva workshops.

The see-through case-back opens the view to the balance and the escapement, which seem to be totally independent from the movement, swinging with no visible motive force. The brands specialists have deliberately located the connecting train under the dial, making apparent the centre wheel only to accentuate the isolation of the balance.

As Watches.InfoNIAC.com found out, in November, the F.P.Journe Chronometre Bleu watch will be proposed at all F.P.Journe boutiques in New York, Beijing, Paris, Tokyo, Geneva, Hong Kong and Boca Raton, as well as at all authorized F.P.Journe retail channels, located all over the world.
