New 2009 Members of Breitling for Bentley Collection

Apr 28, 2009
In 2009, Breitling has created three new timepieces to join its iconic Breitling for Bentley collection. The new watches - Bentley Motors Speed, Bentley Motors T Speed and Bentley 6.75 Speed – are equally powerful and elegant.

The design peculiarities of the new Breitling for Bentley models have been inspired by prestigious Bentley cars. The totalizers of the chronographs incorporate chromed steel rings reminding the dashboards on the British sports cars. Their broad bezel is enhanced with the knurled or engine-turned motif. The watches are developed to provide supreme performance as provided by a Bentley Continental GT Speed – they accommodate chronometer-certified mechanical movements.

The Bentley Motors Speed chronograph makes one immediately feel its original and exclusive nature. The ultra-technical dial of the Breitling watch features three counters surrounded by a ring in chromed steel. The eye-catching bezel demonstrates a knurled finish suggested by the Bentley control buttons.

The chronograph watch is equipped with the chronometer-certified Calibre 25B that incorporates the world-exclusive “30-second chronograph” mechanism. The outstanding system is distinguished by a central hand that sweeps around the dial in half a minute, instead of the conventional one minute. This way, the mechanism allows read-off to within 1/8th of a second.

The case of the Bentley Motors Speed chronograph, 48.7 mm in diameter, is sculptured in steel, or 18K red gold in a limited number of 500 pieces.

The timepiece
is available with dials in different colors evoking the Bentley liveries.

The Breitling watch is secured to the wrist on a Barenia leather strap, a crocodile or rubber strap. There is also a choice of a metal Speed bracelet.

The Bentley Motors T Speed chronograph is destined at lovers of special-edition watches. The timepiece catches attention by its original bezel featuring a dynamic engine-turned motif clearly inspired by Bentley dashboards.

The case of the Breitling watch, 48.7 mm in diameter, demonstrates a sporty, refined look. It is crafted from steel and showcases contrasting satin-brushed finishing on the top part and polished surfaces on the side parts.

The powerfully-designed timepiece is powered by the same chronometer-certified mechanical movement , the Breitling Calibre 25B, as the above-described model, also with the “30-second chronograph” function offering ultra-accurate short-time measurement.

The case back of the Breitling for Bentley watch is worth special attention – it reveals a raised engraving that shows three of Bentley’s most famous cars: the Speed 6, the R-type Continental and the Continental GT.

The Bentley 6.75 Speed chronograph has inherited its name after Bentley’s largest engine, the 6.75-litre model that gives power to the luxurious Arnage models.

The timepiece provides remarkable precision and performance, being equipped with a COSC-certified chronometer movement - the Breitling Calibre 44B, assembled in the Breitling Chronometrie workshops.

The face of the Breitling watch is framed by a bezel embellished with a knurled pattern. The dial of the watch features 30-minute and 12-hour chronograph counters and small seconds. You will immediately notice a large-aperture calendar that makes the date highly readable with help of two separate tens and units indicators.

The case back of the watch holds one more surprise – it is adorned with a powerful stamped decor. The five-spoke motif shows the distinctive design of the wheel rims on some of the finest British cars.

The Bentley 6.75 Speed chronograph is available in steel or red gold, the latter in a limited edition of 675 pieces. The case is of the same size as the previously described models.

The new Breitling for Bentley models, reviewed by, are all fitted with a “variable tachometer”, an exclusive invention of the brand. The variable tachometer has been inspired by the renowned patented circular slide rule premiered by the brand in 1942. It is based on two scales, one of them fixed, and the other mobile.

When used together with the chronograph, the variable tachometer allows the Breitling watch wearer to measure average speed independently of the time elapsed, the distance passed or the speed reached.

Moreover, the variable tachometer can be used for a variety of other calculations, including divisions, multiplications, rule of three operations, hourly production rates, hourly flows or consumption rates, as well as heartbeats/minute (pulsometer).
