Breitling Navitimer Caliber 01 - For Devotees of Exclusive Watches

Breitling is pleased to unveil its iconic Navitimer watch in a limited edition. The timepiece is animated by the brand’s proprietary Caliber 01. It will be available in a limited number of 2,000 pieces crafted in steel and 200 pieces in red gold.

The new Navitimer Caliber 01 watch stands out by its case that has become slightly bigger in diameter. It boasts a see-through case-back that allows to drop a glance at the high-performance "motor".

In 2009, Breitling joined the list of the watch manufactures producing their own mechanical chronograph movement. It is important to mention that the brand is one of the true leaders in the chronograph complication, having played an important role in its technical development.

Caliber 01 represents the first movement developed and produced independently in the brand’s workshops. It was first accommodated by an exclusive new version of the Breitling Chronomat model - Chronomat 01. Now, it is found in the heart of the famous Breitling Navitimer, a true embodiment of the brand’s aeronautical spirit.

The self-winding Caliber 01 chronograph movement boasts an original architecture. The caliber is fitted with a column wheel, a vertical coupling clutch and provides more than 70 hours of power reserve. The 47-jewel movement is beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour.

The Breitling watchmakers created it as the guarantee of utmost functionality and secure use. The movement has a few innovative features - a patented self-centering device for the resetting hammers as well as an exclusive index-assembly system to allow fast personalized adjustment of the timepiece according to its wearer. Moreover, Breitling has come up with an industrial chain-production formula for revolutionized traditional movement assembly.

An ultra-sophisticated computer program is used by the brand’s specialists for individual monitoring of each Caliber 01 and automatic directing it towards the appropriate workstation, along a route that includes fully automated workstations and those that need manual intervention. This process integrates all the adjustment phases so that each Caliber 01 guarantees reliability proven by the COSC-chronometer certification.

The case of the new Navitimer Caliber 01 watch, 43mm in diameter, is sculptured in 18K rose gold or stainless steel. The case construction incorporates an antireflective-coated sapphire crystal and a sapphire display back. It is 30-meter water-resistant.

The Breitling Navitimer watch is expected to be available starting with spring 2011.
