The look of the Montbrillant chronograph was inspired by the 1940s-50s. The model incorporated a circular slide rule for pilots. It received its name after the building on Montbrillant Street, in La Chaux-de-Fonds, where the brand’s workshops were located in the period of 1892-1979.
During this period the brand’s watchmakers introduced multiple horological inventions and improvements that significantly changed the wrist chronograph. The list of the most significant achievements includes the following: the first independent push-piece (1915), the second independent push-piece (1934) and the first self-winding chronograph (1969).
The brand also introduced the first onboard chronographs, having gained the prestigious reputation of the “official supplier to world aviation” in the period of the fast development of air transport on propeller-powered and subsequently jet aircraft.
The latest Breitling Montbrillant watch is animated by Breitling’s Caliber 01, appreciated in the horological world as the most reliable and efficient self-winding chronograph movement. The mechanism was born due to a revolutionary assembly process.
The Breitling Montbrillant 01 Limited Edition watch will be available in a limited edition of 2,000 pieces crafted in steel and 200 pieces in red gold. The individual number of the piece is engraved at 9 o’clock on the case middle.
The Mercury Silver dial of the new Breitling watch demonstrates elegant hands, the traditional hundredth of a second counter in the center. The dial also sports the stylized B in 18K gold, the signature symbol of the brand until the mid-20th century.
Watch lovers may admire the heart of the timepiece via a transparent sapphire crystal case-back. The movement, with its column wheel and original structure, won the COSC-chronometer certification.
