The original Monaco watch that joined the world of watchmaking in 1969 became a true rule-breaker. It was destined to become the first water-resistant chronograph in a square-shaped case. Moreover, it was animated by the first automatic chronograph movement. The timepiece caught attention by its unique look and provided supreme performance.
The Monaco “starred” on the wrist of Steve McQueen in the movie “Le Mans”. Now, it rightfully holds a legendary status in the horology and motor-racing fields.
The brushed dial shows the time with help of hour and minute hands provided with luminescent markers and touches of racing red, the color echoed by the all-red second hand and red hour markers.
You will see the chronograph minutes sub-counter positioned at 9 o’clock, while the running seconds sub-counter is found at 3 o’clock. The sub-counters are presented in contrasting black and have rhodium-plated hands. The glance is caught by hand-applied horizontal indexes.
The final touches of the design are represented by the TAG Heuer logo at 12 o’clock and the date window at 6 o’clock. Pay attention to the polished crown at 9 o’clock.
The heart of the new TAG Heuer watch, the decorated Calibre 11 automatic movement, is revealed via the sapphire crystal case-back.
The TAG Heuer Monaco Vintage Calibre 11 Chronograph watch is secured to the wearer’s wrist on a black perforated calfskin strap equipped with a folding buckle and safety push buttons. The timepiece is 50-meter water-resistant.
The TAG Heuer watch will be limited to 1860 pieces, the number inspired by the year of the company’s foundation.
