TAG Heuer Unveils Monaco V4 Next Generation Rose Gold Ruthenium and Ceramic Watch

Oct 26, 2010
Celebrating its 150th anniversary, TAG Heuer is pleased to unveil its new Monaco V4 Next Generation Rose Gold Ruthenium and Ceramic watch. The innovative transmission belt-driven timepiece will be limited to 60 pieces. The double-patented model is nominated Design Watch of the Year at this year’s Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Geneve Awards.

Based on the brand’s revolutionary V4 technology, the new TAG Heuer watch boasts a fresh case design based on the square-faced Monaco worn by Steve McQueen in the 1970 race movie Le Mans. The case sculptured from a new precious material features an imposing size. The first glance at the timepiece says that all - this is TAG Heuer’s most stylish model in rose gold to date.

The concept of Monaco V4 was initially introduced at Baselworld 2004. The double-patented model is the first wristwatch fitted with a high-yield mechanical belt drives and a linear rewinding system.

The 41mm case is sculptured from polished massive rose gold and incorporates fine-brushed silicon nitride “ceramic” inserts. The inserts have been applied to lighten the look of the squared shape of the case. The case construction is also fitted with the newly angled planes of the bevelled crystal, having thus acquired a more fluid and contemporary profile.

Rose gold has been also used for a number of other parts of the Monaco V4 watch, including the minute and hour hands, the manually-applied faceted indexes on the dial, the small second hand found at 4 o’clock, the thermo-lacquered crown at 3 o’clock, as well as the folding buckle on the strap.

Anti-reflective sapphire crystals protect the front and back of the watch. One can admire the watch’s avant-garde architecture, including the tungsten ingot linear mass and two pairs of barrels in series, set in parallel and united by belts. Yet, it demonstrates fresh finishes, with the back plate provided by a high-resistance black ruthenium coating and the bridges embellished with the Cotes de Geneve pattern.

The black dial demonstrates “V4” and “TAG Heuer” engravings in white, the patented transmission and rewind white belts, and high-tech white polymers elaborated exclusively for the latest Monaco V4.

The new TAG Heuer Monaco V4 Next Generation Rose Gold Ruthenium and Ceramic watch is coupled with an ultra-soft, large-scale alligator leather strap featuring anthracite hand stitching, titanium inserts and fitted with a rubberized leather lining.
