Michael Schumacher is an avid fan of watchmaking, having been collecting wristwatches for a few years. His friend, Jean Todt, a former executive director of Scuderia Ferrari and, at the present day, president of FIA, shared with the driver his love for Audemars Piguet watches.
Michael Schumacher and Audemars Piguet are also united by their involvement in a number of charitable causes. In 1992, Audemars Piguet established a foundation working on preservation of forest areas all over the world. The watchmaking company donates part of the proceeds from its sales to support a number of environmental projects.
Michael Schumacher also offers his support to various charitable organizations. The legendary driver has established his own foundation to provide help to victims of the floods in East Germany and the tsunami.
In 1996, Michael became a UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador for the Education of Children in Need, having funded and held different events for underprivileged children. Having acted as a benefactor of the ICM Brain and Spinal Cord institute for a row of years, he contributes himself to support this internationally famous research center. All Schumacher’s participations at the Race of Champions are aimed to support ICM and the driver is proud to wear the Logo on his racing suit.
Audemars Piguet is also committed to this very cause, having auctioned watch N°1 of the limited edition specially developed for this occasion and donated all the proceeds from the watch’s sale to ICM.
Audemars Piguet has long been closely related to the challenging world of motor sports.
