Jaeger-LeCoultre Reveals Master Ultra Thin Enamel Qing Dynasty Collection

Dec 01, 2009
A collaborative project between the renowned watch-making house Jaeger-LeCoultre and the Chinese Arts and Crafts (HK) Limited, the novel limited edition Master Ultra Thin Enamel “Qing Dynasty” Collection was unveiled on November 29th, at the Chinese Arts and Crafts store in Pacific Place.

The aforementioned line has been encouraged by the artworks of Qing Dynasty in China, embracing the paintings from two grand masters, Ju Lian and Yun Shou Ping, the representatives of the Lingnan School of Painting.

To arrange the environment, necessary for presentation of this refined collection, Jaeger-LeCoultre’s partner, Chinese Arts and Crafts Limited, had exhibited a special collection of antiques from the Qing Dynasty.

It was Charmaine Sheh, a famous actress and the star of the popular television series “Beyond Realm of Conscience”, who introduced this elegant Jaeger-LeCoultre collection in the course of the event.

This memorable evening provided a true delight to the timepiece and antique aficionados: they were offered a chance to admire the flawless craftsmanship of the Master Ultra Thin Enamel “Qing Dynasty” Collection, along with the antiques from the Qing Dynasty.

Composed of eight graceful watches, the Master Ultra Thin Enamel “Qing Dynasty” Collection demonstrates Jaeger-LeCoultre’s close attention to every detail, which happens to be the company’s distinctive feature. Another characteristic, inherent in the manufacture, is using the entire spectrum of conventional fine watch-making decorations.

The assemblage in question eloquently demonstrates the unparalleled prowess of the enamel artists. To convey the time-tested beauty of the paintings, created by Ju Lian and Yun Shou Ping, the brand’s major specialists rendered them through superimposing layers of enamel, producing this way an incredible effect of intensity. It is painstaking craftsmanship that enables viewers to enjoy the intensive colors of the scenery along with the vibrant bees and butterflies, depicted in the paintings of the great Chinese masters.

Every timepiece from the Master Ultra Thin Enamel “Qing Dynasty” Collection relies on the brand’s in-house hand-wound Calibre 849 movement, distinguished by unrivalled precision. It features a balance wheel, moving back and forth at the rate of 21,600 vibrations per hour. The movement offers a 35-hour power reserve.

Set with 19 jewels, this mechanism comprises 123 elements: the number that seems unbelievable for a space as small as 1.85 mm. One of the thinnest movements, presented currently on the market, it is fitted with a bridge-free barrel and an extremely small escapement.

Launched as limited series, the spectacular Jaeger-LeCoultre watches from the line are available with a 3.8 mm case, sculptured in pink gold. Every watch case is fitted with a bezel, studded with diamonds.

Each timekeeper is secured to a wearer’s wrist on an alligator leather strap. As Watches.InfoNIAC.com found out, his elegant line is accompanied by a luxurious collector’s case.
