Jaeger-LeCoultre Sophisticated Master Grande Tradition Tourbillon a Quantieme Perpetuel Watch

Dec 24, 2009
The Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Grande Tradition line, introduced in 2009, smartly unites technical innovations with long-established horological traditions. The line consists exclusively from watches that boast a double complication and reflect the inventive spirit and strive for excellence of the Grande Maison located in the Vallee de Joux.

The latest member of the line is the Master Grande Tradition Tourbillon a Quantieme Perpetuel watch. The timepiece has two sophisticated complications - a tourbillon and a perpetual calendar that represent a highly original conception based on a split-level structure. The dial of the Jaeger-LeCoultre watch has an upper part that features the hours and minutes, along with the perpetual calendar indications, and a lower part, with a slight difference of level that makes the tourbillon even more eye-catching.

The heart of the watch is a mechanical automatic Jaeger-LeCoultre movement the Calibre 987, crafted, assembled and decorated by hand. With a balance frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, the movement gives an advantage of a 48-hour power reserve.

The tourbillon cage is crafted in grade 5 titanium. The escape wheel and pallet fork are sculptured in silicium. It is remarkable that the lever and pallets are a single piece, representing a true micromechanical feat improving the efficiency of the timepiece by 15 percent.

In respect of rich Jaeger-LeCoultre tradition, the Master Grande Tradition Tourbillon a Quantieme Perpetuel watch demonstrates a great variety of details to be highly appreciated by most passionate watch lovers. The list of the refined details is highlighted by clous de Paris hobnail motifs (on the dial and calibre 987) and double cotes soleillees, as well as double snailing, circular graining and satin-brushed finishes.

Every steel part is meticulously hand-polished and beveled.

The velvet-finished dial has one part embellished with a Clous de Paris hobnail motif and is completed with applied 18K gilded hour-markers and logo. The time is indicated by gilded Dauphines Tradition-style hands.

The 42mm case of the Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Grande Tradition Tourbillon a Quantieme Perpetuel watch has been created in 18K pink gold or platinum. There is also a version in yellow gold limited to 300 pieces. The newly-constructed crown demonstrates extremely fine fluting.

The sapphire crystal case-back has an integrated magnifying glass that offers an enlarged vision of the silicon escapement. The timepiece is 50-meter water-resistant.

The Jaeger-LeCoultre watch, reviewed by Watches.InfoNIAC.com, is presented on an alligator leather strap fitted with a folding clasp in 18K white, pink or yellow gold.
