Eterna to Present Madison Eight-Days Watch

Feb 17, 2010
The watchmaking house Eterna has once again demonstrated its ability to surprise watch enthusiasts by unveiling its innovative Madison Eight-Days watch. The official introduction of the timepiece is to take place at Baselworld 2010.

The undeniable highlight of the new Eterna watch is the brand’s Spherodrive device, a new kind of barrel, which rotates on seven ball-bearings. It is incorporated into the manually-wound Eterna 3510 movement, executed entirely in the manufacture’s workshops.

The movement is embellished with 22 jewels and operates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour. The mechanism provides an extended eight-day power reserve. Just as well it offers an automatic cut-off of the balance wheel after eight continuous days.

The movement serves to display hours, minutes and seconds. The additional technical amenities include an oversized date display and a power reserve indicator.

The novel Madison Eight-Days watch employs a tonneau-shaped case, which features the dimensions of 53.3 mm x 38.5mm x 13.25 mm. Crafted from polished stainless steel with a lateral motif, the case is equipped with a rapid date corrector, located at 10 o’clock. The specialists from Eterna have fitted the front side of the brand’s new creation with a glareproofed sapphire crystal, which is scratch-resistant. The Eterna watch also reveals a screw-down sapphire crystal case-back. Its water-resistance is down to 30 meters.

The dial of the Eterna Madison Eight-Days watch is created in several variations: silver, grey or black. In the center it depicts a cobbled texture, surrounded by a sun-ray embellishment. It is completed with rhodium-plated or gilt baton hour-markers. Traveling over them are rhodium-plated or gilt hour and minute hands, treated with luminescent coating. The power reserve indicator is nestled between 7 and 8 o’clock. It is kept company by a massive date display, positioned at 2 o’clock.

The final touch is provided by a brown, grey or black alligator leather strap. Designed to meet every expectation, the strap is finished with a polished stainless steel folding clasp.
