The unusually designed case of the watch (35.4 x 44.4mm) is crafted in titanium. It demonstrates a nice union of brushed and polished surfaces, including brushed case flanks and distinctively curved lugs reflecting the car-inspired theme of the wristwatch. The case incorporates a big winding crown found between protective guards, offering most comfortable way to wind or set the timepiece. The timepiece is 50-meter water-resistant.
The shaped sapphire crystal has hour markers and indices directly transferred onto it for a unique three-dimensional effect and maximum legibility of the dial.
The dial of the L.U.C Engine One Tourbillon is highlighted by the power reserve indicator and a one-of--kind skeletonized bridge for the tourbillon carriage. The dial is divided into a satin area in the center and vertically striated outer areas. You will also notice a slightly elevated part of the dial for the power reserve display accentuating an evocative automobile gas-gauge design.
The heart of the new Chopard watch is the brand’s prestigious shaped hand-wound movement - L.U.C 1TRM caliber - fitted on shock-absorbing silent blocks – in a way inspired by a car engine.
The tourbillon cage performs one revolution every 60 seconds. It bears the escapement with its freely sprung balance demonstrating the brand’s exclusive "Variner" adjustment masses, and a hairspring featuring a Breguet terminal curve.
The mechanical movement is just 5.60mm tall, quite a feat considering its shaped form. The movement gives an advantage of a 60-hour power-reserve. The balance wheel of the mechanism makes 28,800 alternations per hour. The L.U.C 1TRM is to be crowned by the COSC-chronometer certification.
The case-back of the Chopard watch has a sapphire exhibition window that allows to admire beautiful finishing of the movement.
The Chopard L.U.C Engine One Tourbillon watch is presented on a hand-sewn crocodile leather strap equipped with a titanium buckle featuring the Chopard logo.
The watch will be limited to just 150 pieces, the number hinting at the 150th birthday of the brand. It will be officially unveiled at Baselworld 2010.
