Jul 25, 2011
The house of Loiseau has stunned the horological world with the presentation of its new 1f4 Grande Sonnerie Complication watch.

A genuine breakthrough in the world of horology, the company’s brainchild is instantly identifiable due to its dial reversibility and 32 functions it is generously endowed with.

The classical blue dial of the new Loiseau watch is crafted from 18K gold. Equipped with white Arabic numerals and 7 hands, it shows local hours and minutes. The display also offers Perpetual Calendar indications, including a leap year, a month of the year, a day of the week as well as a date. Moreover, the watch face is equipped with a moon-phase indicator at 6 o’clock as well as a sriking mechanism power reserve indicator between 10 and 11 o’clock.

The skeleton dial is just as well created from 18K gold, yet fitted with 9 hands. It features a local time sub-dial, indicating hours and minutes. Taking care of seconds are peripheral markers and the 60-second Flying Tourbillon cage, revealed in the opening at 6 o’clock. The display also provides an hour and minute second time-zone zone - GMT.

Additionally, the dial is endowed with a split seconds chronograph, a 30-minute chronograph counter as well as a day/night indicator, which functionality is assured via a special reflector below the tourbillion cage. The equation of time indicator sits between 10 and 11 o’clock. It is counterbalanced by a power reserve indicator for the striking mechanism.

The new Loiseau 1f4 Grande Sonnerie Complication watch is powered by a self-winding movement with an annular-geared oscillating rotor. It incorporates a minute repeater striking mechanism for hours, quarters and minutes. The mechanism also provides a Silence, Petite Sonnerie or Grande Sonnerie selection, activated through a single push-piece.

Integrated within the movement are a Breguet over coil balance spring, a free sprung balance with weight adjustment, a split chronograph lever with a special profile to reduce friction and a squared section gong, produced directly from one piece. The main plate and bridges are done in 18k white, yellow or red (5N) gold. The mechanism comprises more than 891 individual parts and operates at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour.

The caliber is hidden in a 45.20mm 18K white, yellow or red (5N) gold case. It can be also rendered in platinum 990. The case is skillfully fitted with 4 push-pieces, 4 correctors and 2 crowns. The water-resistance of the model is assured down to 30 meters.

The new Loiseau watch is teamed with an alligator leather strap. It joins to a buckle in 18K white, yellow or red (5N) gold or Platinum 990. Alternatively, the strap can terminate in a 2 or 3-section deployment buckle with a “Comfort Stake System”.
