Jaquet Droz Unveils Quantieme Perpetuel Ceramique Watch

Jun 08, 2009
Jaquet Droz has created a new elegant perpetual calendar watch crafted from high-tech ceramic. The timepiece provides retrograde indications for day of the week and the date.

The Jaquet Droz Quantieme Perpetuel Ceramique watch demonstrates a charming black ceramic case, 44mm in diameter. The Manufacture Jaquet Droz has used advanced manufacturing techniques while creating the ceramic case of the timepiece.

The dial of the watch is also a perfect reflection of the technical genius of the brands master dial-makers.

The matte black opaline dial contrasts nicely with the lustrous ceramic case. The dial shows sunken sub-dials for the small seconds and months. A ring in blackened gold features the printed-in-white retrograde scales for the day and date functions. The ring is smartly secured to the dial with help of two blackened screws. The hands are also produced from blackened gold.

The retrograde hands and the hands of the sub-dials are distinguished by red-accented tips. The month sub-dial features a small circular window at 12 o'clock for the leap year indication.

The sophisticated timepiece
is animated by a self-winding movement - the Jaquet Droz 5863 caliber. The movement incorporates double spring barrels offering 68 hours of power reserve. The movement is beating at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour.

The highly-complicated perpetual calendar complication naturally adjusts itself to reflect the variations in the length of the months, also taking onto account the leap year cycle. It is remarkable that it will be necessary to make the first perpetual calendar adjustment by hand only in over one hundred years, on condition of the timepieces continuous operation.

The beauty of the movement is revealed through a sapphire crystal exhibition window in the case-back. Watch lovers will surely admire the bridges demonstrating Cotes-de-Geneve patterns and smoothly chamfered edges. The 22K white gold central winding mass is provided with a black PVD finish.

The Jaquet Droz Quantieme Perpetuel Ceramique watch is secured to the wrist with a natural black rubber strap featuring the twin stars of the brand and fitted with a folding clasp in black PVD-finished steel.

The exclusive timepiece, reviewed by Watches.InfoNIAC.com, will be launched in a limited edition of 88 pieces. The watch is 30-meter water-resistant.
