Nov 24, 2009
Chopard is proud to unveil the fourth limited edition Jacky Ickx watch. The timepiece is devoted to a unique friendship born between Chopard co-president Karl-Friedrich Scheufele and legendary motor-racing champion Jacky Ickx.

The Chopard watch is also devoted to the Le Mans 24 Hours race, one of the most famous automobile competitions in the world. It will be available in a limited number of 1000 pieces.

The Chopard Jacky Ickx Edition IV watch demonstrates a decidedly sporty case crafted in stainless steel and measuring 42.5 mm in diameter.

The case construction incorporates a screw-lock pushers and crown and is shock-resistant. It is also 50-meter water-resistant. The timepiece is created to guarantee perfect performance even in the most extreme weather and physical conditions a driver may face when taking part in the Le Mans 24 Hours.

The timepiece guarantees precision timekeeping, being equipped with the COSC-certified chronometer self-winding chronograph movement, animating a flyback chronograph function. The watch also boasts a tachometric-scale speed display and a one-of-a-kind 24-hour counter.

The 49-jewel movement operates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour. It gives an advantage of a 40-hour power reserve. The movement bridges are embellished with Cotes-de-Geneve motif.

The dial of the new Jacky Ickx watch offers supreme readability in the dark as its hands and hour-markers are Superluminova-coated. It is protected by a glare-resistant sapphire crystal.

The new Jacky Ickx watch provides all the must-have functions for a racing driver, including the chronograph function. The chronograph is presented via a 60-minute counter positioned at 9 oclock, as well as a 24-hour counter found at 6 oclock. The world first allows the watch wearer to keep track of the race status at any given time. The central chronograph hand features a Superluminova-coated arrow tip. The flyback function allows a new timing operation with no need to reset the hands first.

The bezel features the tachometric scale to be used for measuring speed over a 1000-metre distance.

The silvery dial also has a large date window at 12 oclock and a running second display at 3 oclock.

The case-back of the Chopard Jacky Ickx watch demonstrates the 6/24 figures that stand for the six victories Jacky Ickx had in the Le Mans 24 Hours.

The Chopard Jacky Ickx Edition IV watch, reviewed by, is presented on a hand-sewn alligator leather strap or a rubber strap with the signature 1960s Dunlop racing tire-tread motif. The strap is fitted with a steel folding clasp.

The timepiece is a true delight for passionate drivers, as well as all connoisseurs of fine mechanical watchmaking.
