Meet IWC Portuguese Yacht Club Chronograph Edition Volvo Ocean Race Watch

Oct 31, 2011
The house of IWC has proudly released its new Portuguese Yacht Club Chronograph Edition Volvo Ocean Race watch. As the name of the novelty implies, it is dedicated to the participants of the 2011-2012 Volvo Ocean Race.

A true nautical instrument, the new IWC watch offers a generous set of features required for operating at surprisingly high speeds even in the most extreme conditions encountered by the user. The watch provides a stopwatch function with hours, minutes and seconds, hour and minute counters in a single totalizer at 12 oclock, a small hacking seconds hand, a flyback function and a date indication.

All the functions are presented on a perfectly balanced black carbon dial. It is completed with applied steel Arabic numerals, indices as well as hour and minute hands, inlaid with luminous compound. The latter ensures a perfect level of visibility.

The face of the new IWC Portuguese Yacht Club Chronograph Edition Volvo Ocean Race watch is covered by a sapphire crystal with a double-sided glare-proofed treatment. The sapphire glass is also used for the screwed-down back side of the 45.4mm round-shaped titanium case. The model is equipped with a protected screw-in crown. The water-resistance of the case is assured down to 60 meters.

Placed inside the timepiece is a manufactory-made automatic 89361 movement, built on 38 jewels. It runs at the rate of 28.800 vibrations per hour and provides a 68-hour power reserve.

The new IWC watch comes fitted with a black rubber strap, finalized by a folding clasp in stainless steel.
