Iron Man Wears Bulgari

Aug 25, 2008
Watch fans always pay a great deal of attention to wristwatches worn by movie characters in famous blockbusters. Once you start thinking on the topic, you immediately remember Rolex and Omega watches in James Bond movies, Tag Heuer watches in such famous movies as The Brave One, Good Luck Chuck, and The Bourne Ultimatum, IWC watches in large-scale feature film Miami Vice, not to mention a Jaeger-LeCoultre wristwatch in the recently released The Dark Night.

In 2008, the list of blockbusters, sporting super-heroes wearing super-wristwatches, has been joined by Iron Man, directed by Jon Favreaua. The new superhero movie has been inspired by the Marvel Comics character with the same name.

If you haven't watched the movie yet, it narrates about Tony Stark, a character played by Robert Downey Jr. , a billionaire industrialist and engineering genius.

The billionaire is kidnapped overseas and his captors force him to create a devastating weapon. Instead, Tony Stark creates an armored suit, a one-of-a-kind invention he uses to save his own life and fight the criminals.

Tony Stark wears two different models of Bulgari wristwatches, the preproduction models unveiled at Baselworld 2008. Both watches belong to the Bulgari Diagono line.

First, you will notice the hero wearing one of the two Bulgari watches in the beginning of the movie.

Somehow reminding a Hublot Big Bang, as taken by mistake by many watch fans who have watched the movie, the Bulgari Diagono Chronograph features similar hands, but is more modest in dimensions. It makes one feel the characteristic Bulgari sporty spirit.

The 18-K yellow gold and rubber case of the Bulgari Diagono Chronograph measures 42 mm in diameter. The case construction incorporates scratch-resistant sapphire provided with anti-reflection treatment.

The black dial of the Bulgari watch demonstrates embossed treatment and hand-applied indexes.

The Tony Stark watch is equipped with a chronograph mechanical movement, Caliber B130 with automatic winding and date function. The mechanism comprises 130 components. It offers an advantage of a 42-hour power reserve.

The watch is coupled with a black rubber bracelet completed with 18-K yellow gold links and 18-K ardillon buckle. It is 100-meter water resistant.

The second timepiece you can clearly see in the hands of Tony Stark is the Bulgari Diagono Retrograde Moonphase. The automatic watch accommodates the BVL347 retrograde movement. The mechanism gives an advantage of a 44-hour power-reserve.

The 42mm case of the Bulgari watch is crafted from brushed and polished 18-K rose gold.

The Tony Stark watch wins the heart with its exquisite, multiple-texture black dial featuring a one-of-a-kind retrograde moonphase indicator found at 6 o'clock. The retrograde sub-dials at 9 and 3 o'clock are for the day of the week and the date function respectively. You will surely appreciate the overall symmetry of the dial.

The 50-meter water-resistant watch goes on a brown alligator strap fitted with an 18-K rose gold buckle.

No wonder, such a super-hero as Iron Man wears wristwatches from the Bulgari Diagono line synonymous to top Swiss quality, maximum precision, attention to detail and durability.

The Bulgari Diagono line comprises watches radiating with elegance applied to contemporary sports design. The timepieces are characterized by dynamic lines and high-precision mechanics.

The design of Bulgari Diagono watches is highlighted by the new, flat bezel with the double Bulgari logo and the interplay of glossy and matte surfaces. The dials demonstrate sophisticated relief treatment, characterized by depth and luminosity, being completed with extremely dynamic skeleton hands with luminescent interior.

A little late to the article but actually it's not a mistake by watch fans seeing Tony Stark wearing a Hublot, because he was! Here is a picture showing him with a Big Bang Ceramic bezel.

Impressive data. How about the piece given by Obediah for Tony's safe returned? It's a black leather strap.
