Meet IWC Ingenieur Chronograph Racer Watch

Dec 17, 2012
In 2013, the famous IWC Ingenieur collection is to welcome a sporty newcomer the new Ingenieur Chronograph Racer watch.

The Ingenieur collection was born in the 1950s. The following year the brand intends to update the collection also with other new models to mark its partnership with the Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One racing team. The new timepieces will be built from materials widely applied in motorsports, including carbon fiber, ceramic and titanium. Their design elements will be inspired by the cockpits of F1 cars.

The case of the new Ingenieur Chronograph Racer watch is rendered in stainless steel. It incorporates new ergonomically enhanced lugs and a bezel with five signature screw bores. The bezel bears a tachymeter scale.

The case, 45.5 mm in diameter, is teamed with a new rubber strap provided with a textile or leather inlay. It can be also coupled with a steel bracelet fitted with a button-operated fine-adjustment clasp.

The new IWC watch has been created in two variations that boast a classic IWC look - with a white dial, blue hands, and red accents, and with a dark grey dial, black sub-dials, silvery hands, and red accents.

The new IWC Ingenieur Chronograph Racer watch is animated by an in-house automatic fly-back chronograph movement - Calibre 89361. Beating at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, the 38-jewel mechanism provides a 68-hour power reserve.

At SIHH 2013, the brand will also introduce other complicated Ingenieur models, including a tourbillon, perpetual calendar and moon-phase, as well as Mercedes AMG limited edition models.
