The
iconic TAG Heuer Carrera collection welcomes a futuristic newcomer – the
Carrera CMC Concept Chronograph watch. The novelty is fully crafted in Carbon Matrix Composite.
The first Carrera watch, inspired by motor sports and aimed at professional drivers and sports-car enthusiasts, was created by Jack Heuer in 1963. Its latest interpretation has been manufactured in the identical space-age carbon composite used in Formula One and the aerospace industry. It is animated by TAG Heuer’s in-house designed and manufactured chronograph movement.
The case of the new TAG Heuer watch is ultra light and greatly resistant. With its hi-tech design, it has been inspired by the brand’s award-winner - the
Carrera Microgorder. The model was named Swiss Watch of the Year at the
Geneva Watchmaking Grand Prix held in November 2012, having won the highly prestigious

Omega has created an
innovative anti-magnetic watch movement that makes a
watch resistant to magnetic fields more than 1.5 tesla (equal to 15,000 gauss). This remarkable level of magnetic resistance greatly exceeds the levels of magnetic resistance provided by other timepieces.
As magnets are now more present in our everyday lives than ever before, magnetism represents a serious issue for watchmakers who have to demagnetize mechanical timepieces that have been exposed to magnetic fields and lost the accuracy of their performance. The new Omega movement successfully solves this problem.
The Omega team developed the technology that allowed them to develop the first prototype of the movement. The watchmakers have used it for an
Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra watch.

Oris presents its
new Aquis Depth Gauge watch. The novelty introduces a revolutionizing concept in the world of professional diving as it represents the first diver’s watch that measures depth by allowing water to enter the timepiece. The brand’s engineers have applied the
Boyle Mariotte Law to the patented model.
The new Oris watch is constructed with a
special sapphire crystal that is 50% thicker than an average top glass. The sapphire crystal has a
channel milled into the side. This channel runs anticlockwise round the dial and stops between 1 and 2 o’clock. At 12 o’clock, there is a hole leading to this channel. A rubber gasket is used for sealing the join between the crystal and the case.
When the diver descents with the watch on his wrist, the air found inside the channel is compressed by the surrounding water pressure, and water enters through the 12 o’clock inlet. The edge, visible in light and dark grey, differentiates between water and compressed air on the
yellow-numerals scale featured around the outside of the dial, indicating the depth.

Cartier is pleased to unveil its
new Rotonde de Cartier 42 mm Panther watch. The novelty demonstrates a unique goldsmith’s technique -
granulation. The highly sophisticated artistic craft was born in the first half of the 3rd millennium B.C. Passed down the ages, it was greatly developed during the first millennium in Etruria, having given birth to the signature objects in
Etruscan granulation.
Cartier wanted to reinterpret the ancient technique cherishing the idea of breathing new life into rare and even forgotten crafts.
The craftsmen who apply the
granulation technique create small balls from threads of gold. They cut the tiny gold balls and heat them over a flame. Then, they assemble the granules one by one and fuse them with the gold plate. This way the craftsmen create the sensual relief of the motif.
