Ulysse Nardin Presents its Safari Jaquemarts Minute Repeater

Aug 08, 2009
The acclaimed horological company Ulysse Nardin is excellent at manufacturing both minute repeater timepieces and minute repeater timepieces with automations. The latter expose small figurines that start moving on the dial the moment the minute repeater function is turned on.

This accomplishment of the watchmaking industry is demonstrated on several Ulysse Nardin minute repeater timekeepers, with Genghis Khan models among them.

The cloisonne enamel dial of the Safari Jaquemarts Minute Repeater watch is composed of two main layers with a middle section which incorporates the moveable parts. You can admire the animals, brought to life on the dial: the monkey swinging, the lion shaking his paw, and the fish flying into the alligator’s mouth.

The dial is also “inhabited” with a flamingo, giraffe, and elephant, performed in bright colors.

On activating the minute repeater by means of the slider located on the left of the timepiece, you will hear the auditory cues repeating the time. This complication is equipped with various tones intended for indicating the specific hour, quarts of the hour, and minute.

The enamel dial is meticulously handcrafted. The watch case, sculptured in 18k pink gold or platinum, measures 42mm in width. The minute repeater is powered by the hand-wound mechanical movement, which is on full display through the sapphire exhibition window in the case-back.

The Ulysse Nardin Safari Jaquemarts Minute Repeater watch in platinum is accompanied by a black alligator strap and the model in rose gold comes with a brown alligator strap.
