The R&D 01 stands out due to the unique position of its push-pieces it has on the left side. This facilitates operating the functions of the chronograph for racing drivers.In the meantime, the crown, having a smooth and curved incorporated crown-shield, is featured at 4 o’clock to make the timepiece really user-friendly.
The smooth, rounded crown-guard with its form suggested by the air intake of a competition car, serves as a protector for both the date corrector and the crown. The manufactured movement can be seen through the case-back made of sapphire crystal. The case-back is fastened with six Imbus screws – the similar ones are used in the competition car construction.
The Girard-Perregaux model is manufactured according to the customer’s request in a black PVD steel limited edition in cooperation with Laurent Picciotto, a true friend of Girard-Perregaux and a watch enthusiast.
