On October 7th, 2008, TAG Heuer held an exclusive event, having invited to the same stage two bright personalities - Lewis Hamilton, charismatic British Formula One racing driver and TAG Heuer ambassador since 2003, and Ken Okuyama, the famous Japanese super car's designer. The event took place in Conrad Hotel, Tokyo.The exciting event was attended by 250 journalists and VIPs. Lewis Hamilton was glad to share his passion for his favorite watch, the TAG Heuer Grand Carrera. According to Lewis Hamilton, the watch has become part of him and his style. ‘Without my Grand Carrera, I feel naked’, the racing driver said.
During the press event, Ken Okuyama announced the launch of a new 24 TAG Heuer K.O 7 GT cars, to be developed in limited edition. The exclusive twin-seat roadsters represent the direct offspring of the revolutionary Concept car unveiled by the designer at Baselworld 2008.
The designer highlighted GT sports car history by creating an automobile dashboard inspired by a watch collection, the TAG Heuer Grand Carrera.
Out of 99 K.O 7 cars to be manufactured, 24 cars are to be fitted with two timepieces of the brand - a men’s watch, the Grand CARRERA Calibre 17 RS2 Chronograph Ti2, as well as its variation for ladies, the Grand CARRERA Calibre 6 RS Diamond Bezel.
The Grand CARRERA watch pair is aimed exclusively owners of the limited production K.O 7 TAG Heuer sports cars. The timepieces feature the official K.O 7 logo and serial numbers stamped on their case-backs.
By his participation in the TAG Heuer event, Lewis Hamilton wanted to strengthen the links between the worlds of GT and Formula One. The brand’s ambassador was glad to answer journalists’ questions about the end of the F1 season, believed to be closely contested and intense.
